Buying a laptop off EBAY?

Well been looking at some IBM thinkpad t43p's and they are sooo expensive. I mainly need that specific model because of the ATI fireGL card in it will run CATIA CAD nicely, and it dosen't weigh a ton.

Now that I look on ebay, there are a few people that have some really good deals on t43p's supposedly new, sealed and everything. A few of them have really good deals (stuff like email me to buy this for 800 dollars)

That seems too good to be true. Even the FW'ers are jumping on T43's around 1000.

Look at his other listings, every listing has the features maxed out. All high end stuff, and the account has been inactive for over a year.

i would refrain from emailing him and buying the laptop unless you can see the thing in person.

 

Two things that dont match:

"laptop from Ebay" and "good idea"

I personally won't deal with someone that offers to do a deal outstide of ebay in their auction, his feedback is good yes, but he only has 35 feedback, I usually won't deal with someone on ebay if their feedback is lower than 100, just my opinion though. its your money your decision.

Notice he wants $800USD, yet the auction is only at $500 something. He's just advertising, if you bid on it you will NOT get it, he will find some way of backing out, he wants you to email him and deal with him outside of ebay. He needs to be reported ASAP.

The only way I'd buy a high end relatively new laptop from eBay would be from an authorized reseller.

General advice. Pay a little more and buy new from an authorized reseller. The premium you pay gives you a peace of mind.
