Buying a home

Miramonti

Lifer
I'm might buy a home next year and want to know what houses have gone for in the areas that I'm interested in.

I know this is public information somewhere (and free?), so how does someone research values for blocks/neighborhoods/zips etc.?

I got that info from our realtor. Sur epeople say it's expensive to have one, but she did dozens of hours of leg work that I was in no position to do.

i was wondering this too... also is there a site that'll tell me about how good the school districts are? i've got kids, and they'll be attending school fairly soon, and them being in a good school is very important to me

real estate agents can usually set you up so listings are emailed to you. They dont charge.

I'd like to go back a few years...would they do that?

Btw, if I get a real estate agent, do I have to sign on with them, and what do I pay them?

look at the MLS, property tax records, and ask your realtor

wherever I'd get this...would I need an exact address or could it be done looking at a neighborhood...

I'm want to know what things have already sold for over the past couple years...as opposed to what they are listed for (which I'll use later.)

domania.com does what you want.

hmmm...I'm looking in new mexico areas, but I don't think it covers that area yet. 🙁

/edit: It should have some in nm but still can't get any results. Maybe there aren't many...it mentions its a non-disclosure state so it would presumably take more legwork to get the info.
