Drive both and see what you prefer. I drove the 6MT and wasn't too fond of it.. and got the 5AT because it was more practical for my commuting purposes (Bay Area traffic is horrible) and a bit cheaper. I do stick it in manual mode more than auto mode though.

poser, ahhahaha
😉

Guilty. 😛

Besides, stick is inherently not ADA complaint for people with only 1 leg.

Considering what they allow ADA violation lawsuits for in California I'm surprised car makers can still sell cars with manual transmissions there. 😉

I don't care what people drive. Auto or Manual. I only drive manual but could care less what other people drive. Just like I could care less if someone likes Budweiser. Do what you like.

Eh it's seeking others opinions. I'm going to do what I want, but hearing from people that own the 6mt who are fine with driving it in traffic is a good thing to know.

Maybe it has a horrible auto transmission and finding that out is enough to sway me?

Take your trolling elsewhere. You obviously have nothing constructive to say.

Thanks to everyone else!

If you think that's trolling you haven't spent much time on the net.

Coupe -> manual
Sedan -> auto

My thoughts, exactly.

i'm very happy with my coupe 6mt. i've driven the g35x sedan, and that's nice too, although the "manual" mode is worthless.

I have a G37 sedan loaner this weekend. Maybe i'm used to the DGS transmission in my GTI but the manual mode on this is horrible, its literally a second or two before it changes gears.

What kind of G35?

I had an '05 G35 sedan in 6MT. I loved it. I wanted to get the newer G35 sedan in 6MT as well but at the time the new G37s were being introduced and I could not find a G35 manual anywhere. The G37 manuals were not going to come out for another 6 months so I had to settle for a different car.

Whenever I took my G35 in for service the tech would be surprised to see a manual. They said they may see 1 G35 sedan in manual a month at best. If you find one good luck. It's been my favorite car to date.

if you get an 05+ G35 get the 6MT it has the Revup Engine which has about 25 more hp. Since you already drive a stick, stay with it imo.

^ yea Sedan 6MTs are I guess kinda rare, I could not find any when I was looking for a G35 which I still want to kill my self not waiting for a 6mt to show up lol.

I think if it were me, I'd go for the Auto too. I drive my 6 speed 05' GTO to work everyday with 30-50 mph traffic and lots of traffic lights and it gets to be hassle shifting. The difference is I only commute about 12 miles. If it were any longer I'd probably get another commuter car with an automatic. It's entirely up to you though. You know how tedious your commute is with a manual. If it outweighs having the 6 speed when you're out tooling around in your new G on the weekends then get the auto.

Yep depends where you live and drive.

My turbo Saab with 5 speed was a blast to drive in NC. Open roads in many places and not to many lights/traffic problems.

But when i moved to N.VA damm i hated my car. Bumper to bumper traffic and 1st gear to 2nd stop back to first, 1st gear to 2nd stop back to first, 1st gear to 2nd stop back to first, etc... gets old real fast.

So all our cars are Auto now, even the Corvette.

I live in the NYC metro area and don't mind at all. Sure I get stuck in traffic a lot and it's hard on the clutch but I love driving a stick. It's really personal preference. The new manuals these days have light clutches and my car has hill assist, which I don't need but comes in handy.

The 4-speed autos (and the old 3-speeds .. *shudder*) on cheaper cars are pretty crappy overall.

I see you forgot about the old GM Powerglide 2 speed automatics

Manual would be the choice. Unless you do a lot of stop & go congested city traffic driving.
