buying a display model LCD TV

Ok I am debating whether to buy a display model or a brand new LCD TV

The model I am looking at is the Samsung A550 series..

For the same amount of money, I can either get a 32 inch brand new one or a 37 inch display model one

The brand new one comes with 3 year warranty, while the display model only comes with 1 year.

Obviously the 37 is nicer.. but should I be wary of buying a display model?

Thanks for any inputs.

Are you sure you can't get the 37" new on the internet for the same price as a B&M display model?

well I am in HK, not in the states.

I dont know if there are any good sites online to buy TVs here.

Well I would consider that a display model runs 14 hours a day, 7 days a week. Normally displays are not sold unless they are being discontinued, so let's say 300 days in the store.

300 days x 14 hours = 4200 hours of probably showing the same 3 minute clip over and over (Yes, even LCD's can get burn in). Even with an advertised 60,000 hour life, you have already used almost 7% of it's useful life. I wouldn't consider a display model without at least a 30% discount of the lowest price I could find on the web.

In addition to being on for hours a day, display models usually have their brightness turned up to the max which can shorten the life of the panel as well.
