I found a decent couch - only flaw I can see is that it's fabric is heavily sun damaged - very faded. I figure I can just cover it with a slipcover.

I'm kind of worried though - I mean, it's furniture from Goodwill.....eekkk. It doesn't smell or anything - and it's only 75 bucks. If I get it -should I douse it in Lysol or something?

All of my furniture in college except my bed (from Sam's Club) and desk (couldn't find a nice L-shaped one at Goodwill) were from Goodwill/Salvation Army/yard sales/etc. You may not want to stick your hand too deeply between the cushions though.

I hate buying couches and beds from thriftstores. You never know what's been done to those things. Tables and such no prob.

I would check out every single inch of that thing for (dog pee, vomit, unmentionables) etc. Who knows what person had the thing before.

Personally I'd shy away from it, but then again I went through college with two couches that I got for $20 each, who knows what they went through before I had them.

I sleep on a couch bought at goodwill every night. It's very comfortable, and no STDs from it yet. I have a sheet on it.

I bought a couch for there that weighs about 25 pounds. Its a loveseat, I can lift it over my head with one hand, talk about a party trick. It's uncompfortable as hell though.

Steam Cleaning would work. Or douse it with FeBreeze or some other fabric cleaner just to make sure.

check craigslist for a good deal on a couch - I got a futon for free - stains and foreign substances included at no extra charge. I bought it from a bathouse, so I'm sure it's clean for the most part

I got my couch and chair from the Salvation Army and both looked brand new and were very nice. My dogs destroy them pretty quick so I don't want to pay for a brand new couch every 2 or 3 years. The things that I do on it are bad enough to cancell out anything the previous owners did on it.
