Buying a comp

Ehh, must you get Kingston? I've heard some bad things about then, why not give Corsair Valueram a shot?
 
That is odd about the ram...I wonder what the deal is. Did I miss anything in the list? I already have another HD with windows so no need to buy OS. Do I need to buy that thermal paste or any other little accessories?

Well there's something you missed, thermal paste. One small tube of Arctic Silver V is about 10 dollars. I can't really think of anything else unless you need little cable adapters, ethernet cables, etc.
 
I would recommend this Corsair RAM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145440 it's 5 dollars more, but you don't have to mail in for a rebate.

Since you are buying a retail processor it should already have a thermal pad on the heatsink.

As you already have a hard drive you probably already have keyboard, mouse and monitor from another system.

The only other thing might be cables, I think they will come with the MSI MB, but I'm not sure about that.


 
Yeah hopefully what I got is ok since I can't make changes on the order anymore....didn't realize it would be that quick...oh well I'm sure it will be fine. I won't be overclocking or doing anything crazy. I'll get thermal paste from a friend of mine I guess.
 
😀 Thermal paste is used to dissapate heat between the heatsink and CPU. It is used in many electronic applications and can be purchased at Radio Shack as well as most any electronics store. I use tons of it when rebuilding alternator rectifier heat sinks and they typically get much hotter than a CPU would.
Artic silver is a high end paste that may provide a bit more heat protection. If you're into heavy gaming or serious overclocking you might want to opt for the artic. I personally have used it in the past with little or no difference in temperature change. The key to applying the stuff is to apply a very very thin layer. Too much will cause as much heat as not applying any at all. Good Luck!
 
So back to this RAM issue...the specs on the set I picked is identical to the set suggested on the kingston site...I don't see why it wouldn't work, maybe someone can see something I havent? Yeah maybe I should've gone with Corsair or something, but I'm saving a couple bucks and for all intents and purposes I think anything would perform about the same.
 
the RAM may work fine, I was just pointng out that the RAM you selected is not in Kingstons memory configurator for the motherboard you selected and I can't detemine the difference.... If it doesn't work, RMA it and get the Corsair RAM recommended above.
