Plans for the car would be to use it as a stepping stone so I can sell my camaro and hopefully buy a fiero/Foxbody mustang.

My camaro is my DD so I just need another DD to fill it in. I can then sell this car when I get a new DD in the form of a fiero or mustang.

But if I cant get a title for it, it may be worth it to just buy it for the turbo for my car and then sell the rest of the parts on ebay or something.

I just can't really do anything with the frame without the title. I cant even junk it.

fuck, get your finances in order a bit first.

How long do you need to drive it?

+1

LS1FTW, literally ;)

Even a LT1 would be great to start with. Just, no V6, TPI, etc. No steppings stones, or you'll just keep spending money without limit and still not be happy.

The whole point OP is going for if I'm not mistaken, is to get a car that is a great starting platform so it IS worth modding here and there for substatial gains, rather than throwing money into a car that isn't going any faster.

I won't argue with you there. It just annoys me that they took what was a sexy design

and did this to it.

Edit: And yes, I realize that's a Trans Am, but even the earlier 4th gen Trans Ams didn't have those massive nostrils. They were more understated.
Not all trans ams had the "extra" nostrils. That is part of the WS6 package.

The standard trans am is this:

I guess - I've always liked the 98-02 birds more than the 93-97 birds.

But I'm a Camaro guy myself. Or, should I say, "catfish" lol :D

I like my catfish, see sig. ;)

I've seen LS1 powered cars selling for under $5000

Better, but it's still got way too much crap going on there. There are 8 holes in the snout.

To answer your question, in some states cars before a certain year do not require a title, only a bill of sale. You can call your tag/registration/DMV office and find out but yours is most likely too new.

Also, if you happen to have a friend (or can make a friend) at the tag office they can tell you the supposed owner's address

Most likely the title has a lien on it. You might be able to get it bonded or whatever, but in my state you need a dealer's license to do it (i.e. you need a friend)

Title issues are always a pain. You have a beach or woods near you? Take it dirt track racing, $200 split between 4 guys for a couple days of fun before it's destroyed, then junk/recycle it and get some money back.
