Buying 2003 Acura 3.2 TL - S

I've been shopping and shopping for Acuras and man these prices scare me..

Example of prices

Please share your buying experience, what you paid, what was invoice for the car brand new, what i should pay for one with around 30K miles?

Please don't turn this thread into a Acura vs (insert competitor make here).. I've been shopping between Nissan, Acura, Infiniti and all cars are comparable but i like the Nissan styling, it fits my profile better..

I'm thinking of offering somewhere around 18 and have a ceiling at about 19K for the diamond white with 37K miles in the above link. I've researched Edmunds and KBB and with the new 2004/05 TL, there are many TL-s for sale at the moment. Thoughts?

dude, offer around $20k-21k or so for a ~37k mile tl-s... we recently bought one with virutually the same specs for that much(pearl white, 2003 TL-S) about 2 months ago

(we got ours at an Acura Dealer in IL... maybe whereever you get yours its a little cheaper?)

"when you buy a used car... at a new car store... you get a great deal and a great deal more!" heh

Great now I have that new car itch.

Must ... resist selling the 2002 Honda Accord SE and buying a new 2004 Acura with NAV ... do not pick up phone, must resist ... wife will throw a fit ... resistance is ...

Tell her that when you're lost, you'll never argue about pulling over to a gas station again. You got the NAV!

Just show her this thread. That will straighten her right up.

You know what that sounds like a great idea!

😉

Does anyone know what invoice was on these cars new? I don't care about NAV. I don't think the 2003 TL-s comes with stick.

The 5 speed autos in the previous gen TL/CL have a bad rep. Estimated somewhere below 5% of them fail, often repeatedly despite warranty work. Supposedly the 2003s were least likely to fail compared to early ones, but it's something to be aware of. If you do get this car, I'd suggest drain/fill the ATF on shorter than recommended intervals.

Is it a 6-speed? Otherwise, make sure the tranny is in decent shape and/or has been replaced.

I believe only the CL in that generation had a 6 speed. :\

Ross. I have a 2004 6MT TL. Please go drive one.

Its calling. You won't believe how comfortable, powerful and smooth it is. And the stereo? just...WOW.
😉

Sounds like at least 2 people in this thread have my exact same car. Pearl white 2003 Acura TL S-type. I think I only have like 23k miles though.

This is my first FWD car ever... I'll say it's wierd, and I won't buy another. Oh, and going from a Volvo to the Acura is definitely a step down in luxury. The interior quality isn't nearly as nice, the leather isn't as fine, and seats aren't NEARLY as comfortable on long trips. But you know what they say: Volvo, for life.

Most of the time, these cars were purchased at invoice brand new. For the 2003 TL, invoice was like $26.5K while the TL-S had an invoice of $28.5K.

Searching for these cars on Cars.com, most of the cars are priced close to or higher than the original invoice price. Not to mention that these cars have around 20 to 30K miles on them.

Has anyone gotten a really good deal on a TL-S?

What are you opinions of the sport suspensions? Sometimes i think it's a bit to rough but i do want the extra hp.

I *just* bought a 2002 Acura TL-Type S (W/ Navi), 36K miles. From Atlanta, GA. (White, w/ Beige Interior, Spoiler.) I LOVE it. Such a fun ride.

PM me if you need any help with prices or anything.
