I see that most of them are very good choices. It all comes down to warranty and price now. You should find out which one has better warranty policy and better price.

I would go for the Mitsubishi. I expect it had 1600x1200 @ 85 if the 1920x1440 is 73.
Mitsubishi is a good name, but if you don't like that, then Sony are good as well. I have a rebadged Sony 19" that runs 1600x1200 @ 85Hz just fine.

I've had nothing but problems with my P95F+B. A fair-sized chunk of the screen will go slightly blurry when I put it over 75Hz.

Here's my history of it so far...

-Bought monitor at end of August.
-Noticed problem with blurriness, but didn't know it was refresh related.
-I waited as I was getting a 9700 Pro in a week, so just in case it was my old GF4MX440...
-Returned for repair mid-September.
-Without monitor for 3 days.
-Received same monitor, still had problem.
-Returned monitor to Manufacturer for repair.
-Without monitor for just over a week.
-Received same monitor, still had problem.
-By luck, I happened to find out it was a refresh problem while fooling with settings.
-Contact customer service for RMA number.
-Return monitor yet again.
-Without monitor for another week.
-Receive brand new monitor, has same problem.
-Go online and conctact customer service, fully detailing the problem and what I have gone through.
-Tech support contacts me, and says he will test a monitor there before shipping.
-Gets back to me but only tested it at 75Hz.
-I correct him, he says that he will retest (this was last Friday).
-Still no word back....

I will never buy another Viewsonic product again as long as I live...

And before anyone says anything, I have done everything imaginable to rule out any kind of interference or incompatiblity possible. IE: different rooms, different video cards, different computers, etc.

hey lung, my last monitor was a viewsonic in fact.. PS790....

I too didn't like the monitor that much.. not only was it not flat, but blurry as hell and had major banding in it since day1... about 3 weeks ago, i push the switch to turn it on and ZAP.. sparks shoot out the side of the monitor.. took it apart, but it's just not worth the time/money to get a replacement part and who knows if that will even fix it, so i said forget it and I'll just buy a new screen..

Originally I wanted to go with the best sony trinitron 21" screen (it runs about $1300 at the cheapest resellers befoer shipping).. but right now being before christmas and all I don't want to blow all my cash. So I figure I'll get the best 19" now, and let that last me a year or so till i go bigtime..

I'm pretty weary about getting viewsonic ever again myself.. my freind has a newer viewsonic and has had nothing but complaints about it, oh well...

My DELL P992 can also do 1600X1200@85HZ.
I'll recommend DELL P992. It's made by SONY, about the same standard as G420S, of course, cheaper than G420S.
The warranty for DELL is very good. Unlike most companies, you need to ship back the monitor at your own cost and wait for them send you back another one, in year 2 and year 3, they will send you another one first and you can send the old one back at their cost. I think that's really nice, isn't it?

Pretty much in the same boat, looking for another 19" for a second system. Like someone already mentioned, all your choices are solid ones, but if at all possible, get to some stores and look at each one and try to compare side by side if they have the monitors.

You can also take a look at Tom's Hardware. This review was done in march but covers some of your choices and may give you some more info.

An interesting monitor to consider is the LG 915FT Plus, especially considering the cost. Good luck

I'm gona recommend the Sony G410, I've had for few months now running 1600x1200 @ 85HZ. I've been very impressed thus far, though I haven't run in-depth tests on it the display looks flawless to my eyes. As for the G420, the only difference is the 420 has dual VGA inputs and integrated speakers two features most ppl won't take advantage off.

I also have to 2nd lung, I had 2 ViewSonic p95f+'s that had the same problem, needless to say I won't be purchasing any more ViewSonic monitors with systems I build.

I would go with one of the Sonys, if you like to run high resolutions then go with the G420S.

And if you didn't want to waste $20-30 you would get the G410R as it's identical to the G420S - the dual inputs and integrated speakers.

Oh is that the difference? I am sorry I assumed the difference was similar to the E540 vs G520P.

Thanks for letting me know.

The VS P95f+ won't do 1600x1200@85Hz. I researched this monitor. I don't remember the exact refresh... I think it was 73 or something. The P95f without the plus does 1600x1200@93Hz but it's twice the price.

That?s odd, when I bought the monitor 1600x1200@85HZ was supported, it f*@#'d the screen up but it was supported. Maybe there was a design flaw with 1600x1200@85 so they dropped support for it, since 285HZ should be enough to do 1600x1200@85 correct?

The P95+ will do a max of 87Hz at 1600x1200... I just bought one... however IMO the colors and dull and the greyscale on it is awful, it was also blurry in certain spots of the screen. I returned it and got a G410 from Dell with free shipping and 10% off. I couldnt be happer, the G410R is a NICE monitor.

If you can find a Hitachi CM772 they'll do 1600x1200 @ 85hz. It's also one of the few flat invar shadow mask monitors out there, so you don't have to deal with those 2 retension wire shadows.
