B&M tend to stock bad value items that gives them the most profit. ie: ocz items and gimped product sku's specific to the seller. The regular popular stuff is simply sold at msrp or close to it. No surprise here. B&M is only for sales or people that need it immediately and don't care about getting the best value.

They could just as easily be engineers.

Anyways, the B&M's are always behind in technology. If you browse the racks in BB, walmart, etc. there are almost certainly 8800 GT's still in stock somewhere for $200... It's a bit risky if your not up to date on the price bracket your looking for.

As others mentioned, if your card breaks on Thurs/Fri and you don't have integrated etc. your only choice is to buy something locally or not use your computer until something gets shipped in.

LOL they are definitely not engineers

I bought a PNY 8800gt at BB before, it was only $100 and was $150 still at newegg when i got it. Can't knock BB for people being idiots and just buying overpriced shit without shopping around.

Since most enthusiasts or people who read a forum like this don't shop at BB you can sometimes find older high end items on clearance which aren't even available online anymore.

I got a chuckle one time when I saw a soccer mom purchasing 2 Galaxy 9500GT's for SLI I'm assuming, though. That is one of the lowest end possible SLI cards available.

I haven't stepped foot inside a best buy in several years and I never will. You can find everything they have in there online for much cheaper. I hate the how they tell their people who work there to approach you and ask for help every damn isle you go down.

For the most part I agree with you. However, I have found (well once anyway) a graphics card on close out that was a decent deal. I got a 9800GT a couple years ago for 80.00 on close out. Very close to what it was selling for at the time on NewEgg. Didnt have to wait for shipping, easy to return if I didnt like it. Normally however, their graphics cards are drastically overpriced though. They are especially bad about selling 2 or 3 generation old low end cards for 50-100 dollars.

That XFX one is a 5450 with a 32bit memory bus. It can't even play UT3 at the lowest settings. Intel HD1000 graphics are better. I just tried one and returned it because it was worse than my onboard graphics. If it had at least a 64bit memory bus, it would perform better.

If you do not have a 'real' computer parts store nearby, and your GPU dies, it could be worth $30-40 to get a 'stand-in' for a week or so while you wait for a replacement.

I was proactive and ordered a $9 (AR) 5450 so I have that to throw in if my GPU dies, or I am in-between GPUs. Handy to have....also could use it for a buddy if his GPU died as well.

It's not like it is a $100 or something. I think they do still sell GFX boards for ~$50. LOL!

Anyone who is ignorant enough to shop for computer parts at best buy deserves to be conned. As does anyone who willingly pays money on a hd 5450 or a hd 6450.

Anyone who got conned, ever, was conned because of their ignorance.

And people being ignorant is not justification for conning them.
