Buy Ultimate Vista or use Windows 7

Hey everyone,

So I just bought a winTV HVR-1800 tv tuner. I currently have windows business that I got for free from my school. I really need windows media center, but I'm not sure if it's a wise investment to drop $65 (school discount) on Ultimate just for WMC. My question is will windows 7 be stable enough for me for another year? My main concern is I have a Razer barracuda AC-1 and it doesn't look like there are windows 7 drivers on the razer site. Thanks

Give Windows 7 Beta a shot before plunking down cash. Unless you're really on a time crunch, I say it's worth it to install a free, purportedly stable OS to see if it works before purchasing Vista. As for the Razer Barracuda AC-1, the Vista x64 or x86 drivers should work in Windows 7.

I doubt that the beta Windows 7 will last a year before turning into a pumpkin. Historically, Microsoft betas have a relatively short life - less than a year.

this is true. the beta is scheduled to be deactivated on Aug 1, unless you can find some kind of workaround, which will undoubtedly be out there, if not already.

try 7 i bet it will fit you good. but it has some issues with some hardware. IE a few things on my laptop dont work. And vista drivers dont help or install for these devices.

Or use business with XBMC?
