I think swiftkey is cool by the way, but I don't like to have to tap out letters, I'd rather do it without lifting a finger.

Yes it was a tap style keyboard until recently, but once they built in Flow it was instantly better than Swype. I used Swype for months but their autocorrect was getting worse it seemed. But I was so used to that style texting that I stuck with it. As soon as swiftkey was updated it did Swype style typing better than Swype did. Plus swiftkey gives you a lot more options (change keyboard size, change color, change delay required to hold down key to enter special characters, etc). Swype may have been the first to do it but they are definitely not the best anymore.

Swype is better than Swiftkey in terms of swiping to type.

Swiftkey is better in prediction.

None really upgrade the stock keyboard but are more focused on a new way to type.

Swiftkey's flow is bad at doing short words with letters close to each other such as "lol" from what I've noticed. The only thing I like better about Swiftkey is that you can make the keyboard smaller than usual.

I bought it and thank the OP for the heads-up. It gets my recommendation as well - for its price ($1) there isn't much to lose. I have Swiftkey as well, and these two seem comparable. Considering that Swiftkey is $4 - and tablet version and phone version are separate buys - $1 for Swype that works both on phone and tablet is money well spent.

Kidding, purchased. Can't really go wrong for a buck. Thanks for the heads up--I would have had no idea it was finally released if it wasn't for this post. I stopped using an old version of it years ago due to the inability to edit a user dictionary...I'm assuming this has since been resolved. If so, it will likely become my go-to keyboard.

I'm also uncertain if you can (easily) add words to the stock keyboard dictionary or if it collects data to to improve prediction based on your personal swyping - I suspect not.

Each brand of phone has its own keyboard I believe (at least Samsung does) and then each iteration of Android has had a slightly tweaked default keyboard as well and depending on if you're running a rom it could be anything.

My apologies. I mean the keyboard that is included with Google's unmodified 4.2.2 that made it on the N4 and presumably on the Galaxy Nexus, as well as on all AOSP ROMs.

Absolutely love swype, and used it until google came out with their own.

Havent tried the new version in the play store, but in my past experience with it, swype was much better with "swyping" than the one that is built into the newest version of android. Its biggest downfall for me was that it was god awful if you had to actually peck anything. It would always assume your swyping if you peck two different sides of the keyboard.

Just bought this new version, hopefully its gotten a little better in that regard.

EDIT: After using for 10 mins.... My god I havent realized how bad google's swype is compared to this. There were just some words that were impossible to swype no matter how you did it. Using this swype, I could do it with my eyes closed.
