Depends on how much time you got. Also laptops might take longer time to appear. For example Lenovo T series is what, 6-9 months after release?

That's a great price for a lappy with an Ivy quad. But Haswell is so close and there looks to be significant power efficiency improvements. If you can hold out I would say wait.

If you are going for a laptop with discrete gfx .. go for it now.
The stuff you are going to use a laptop for is problary not going to be avx2/tsx kind of heavy and the ipc increase with haswell is minimal.
I dont see haswell improving battery life in laptops as in "paradigm shift" (many other things in laps draws power) and while the platform is EOL, a laptop is usually not something you have an extensive upgrade path for( lets upgrade the cpu for 50% more performance).

I'd say go for it now.

edit : actually i've promised my daughter a laptop that can _also_ play games soon .. was going to wait for haswell and its igp to do the job, but looking at prices on laps with descretes .. think i might just settle on something like that.

About Haswell, how long will you have to wait for more than 4 core cpu? I still have an i7 970 six core, about 3 years old and am not upgrading until either another 6 core or 8 core beast comes out. And yes I use all my cores before trolls say that I don't need them and I don't want to go down the xeon route.
