No offense, but exactly how are you going to boycott something that you can't even buy to begin with (speaking about Buymusic only)?

I have a PC I built too, which I could use to purchase music. That's a bit of their issue, there are a lot of Mac people that do own PC's. They automatically lose them because of this.

The music is recorded in WMA and requires WMP9, it wont play on a mac anyway. They're marketing the whole store to Windows users, they figure if mac users want to buy music, they're already using the iTunes store.

Hey all,

If anyone here's caught any of my posts, I'm a primarily Apple user. I love the iTMS. Seriously. It's dirt easy to use and the downloads are very fast on it. I know that's really determined by your bandwith, but still, you can hit slow downloads on cable modem that feel like a 28.8 modem...this is not the case. I download a whole album in a matter of about 2 minutes. I've purchased a few albums and some singles and the sound quality is great, they're easy to burn and they can be used in Apple's other apps very easily. For example, I recenly finished a DV project that I used iDVD to bring together. iDVD read my AACs fine and imported them into my soundtrack with no problems. No limits of how many burns you get on a song, just a playlist. Unlimited amounts of iPods and up to 3 authorized computers. They mean that too! I took my iPod to work and when it went to play one of the AAC's, it asked for my Apple ID and password and verified it against the server.

I'm very dissapointed with Buy.com/Buymusic.com. I hadn't really planned on purchasing much of anything from their music site, being so happy with the iTMS, but I thought maybe they'd have something I'd like. First day, no problem. Looked around, browsed, realized it was a rip. Second day, whoa! I'm not allowed in your store?! I HAVE to use IE and Windows?! No I don't, that's why I bought my Apple!

As an Apple user, I want the PC world to have the iTMS as well. I have sent Apple queries about the Windows version, which *IS* in the works, via their OS X feed back and the ADC channels for the Panther seeding (Panther Rocks, btw!). If you have any doubt about the port of iTunes, Apple had even been advertising for Windows programmers at one point, I don't know if they still need more or not, though. I can tell you even at WWDC 2003, Steve Jobs stated again that he's very eager to get iTunes out to the Windows community and I believe he is. I mean, really, it only makes sense. There's lots of money to be made off this thing!

If you have any concerns about iTMS for Windows, I encourage you to email Apple or go to their website, click on the Mac OS X tab and fill in a Feedback form letting them know that you too want this great program for your PC.

PS: I officially just graduated college earlier today! So go me! :)

congrats!
Yeah, I can't wait for iTMS for Windows.

So, following that type of logic...

If I bought a Mac, I should refuse to buy Mac stuff at the Mac Store because they don't sell PC stuff too?

No. Following that type of logic, you should refuse to buy stuff at the Mac Store if they REQUIRE you to use both Mac OS and Safari to even view the store.

Gah, they blocked out Opera now, even if I have it identify itself as MSIE6, the site can somehow tell now.

Where else can I see the funny how-to videos?

Except for the fact that "there are a lot of Mac people that do own PC's" indicates that they still have the means to shop there and are just trying to stir up controversy where there is none...what part of windows media do they not understand?

If the downloads were being provided in MP3 or some other currently platform-independent file-type, then I could understand the "outrage" they seem to have towards the situation. As it stands, the dual-platform owners are just being whiners. ;)

No controversy? Mr. Blum saying on Howard Stern that BM is the first legal way to buy music off the internet (even iTunes wasn't the first, though its the best), complete rip-offs of Apple advertisements, too-similar UIs, and so on. I think that's plenty to be outraged about. Forcing the dual-platformers (present company included), or just Windows users, to use IE is the icing on the cake.

Its a given that BM is Windows only, and I don't think any Mac users care. We've got ours. We just don't want to be dragged through the mud. Again.

Plus, the boycotting is against BM AND buy.com. buy.com has an Apple Store. They also have plenty for dual-platformers to buy as well.

ahhh I love it, now that the music industy isn't calling the shots anymore, they're now forced to allow customers to do the very thing that's hurting them - download music - just for a fee this time around.

what a joke :)
