I believe I'm running some Epox mobo with a hpt raid controller on it and that it only goes up to AGP 4x. Will this card even work on my one of my rigs?

may be better at AA and AF but not much faster without it. I wouldn't do it unless your after those things. but if rebates work its only$20.....

F**K! But how are you supposed to get both rebates? Put them together? The date ranges on the forms are mutually exclusive.

the fx5700le 128mb is identical to a fx5200 in benchmarks, the fx5700le 256mb is way better but overpriced- I would not get the 128mb card unless it was real cheap- it does overclock better than the fx5200 though- for the money you could find a nice used ti4600. Trust me I almost bought one for 44$ A/R to put in a spare computer a few weeks back but cancelled my order after reading an in depth comparison with this card and the fx5200

Well, if you follow the link it just says $19.99 after rebates. I don't want to give them my credit card number for now so I can't see the checkout details, maybe it's two rebates after that.

However, how many rebates there might be, there seems to be no problem with stacking if they display it plainly like that. And shipping seems to be free, too, because the pre-rebates price is above their threshold for free shipping of computer parts 🙂 [NOTE: I didn't check out yet, surprises might apply]

wait...so this card ISN'T better than a FX5200 ???? And I knw the FX5200 is actually slower than G4mx460 sometimes

i gotta g4mx420...would i see any noticable improvment?

and yes, i beat HL2 on it also...looks erlaly nice!

Been hitting the eggnog hard? The page says "our price: $99.99" and "Price after Rebates: 19.99". It also has 2 rebates right there in the page.

But, as mentioned earlier, the dates on the rebates (open the PDF files to see the real dates) are mutually exclusive and they both require the original UPC. Just one of those things buy.com tries to pull.

hmm doens't seem 6 days is enough to get that out >_<

yeah and its pretty cheap how both require orignal UPC

hey i read the rebates, chkec out htis "shady" fine print:

on the first rebate:

Offer starts 12/22/04 and expires 12/31/04. Offer only applies to XFX Model/s PVT36LRA purchased through Buy.com. All
requests MUST be postmarked within 30 days after purchase. All rebates paid in US dollars. Photocopies, facsimiles or
reproductions of serial number labels will NOT be accepted.

and the second rebate:
Offer starts 1/01/05 and expires 1/30/05. Offer only applies to XFX Model/s PVT36LRA purchased through Buy.com. All requests
MUST be postmarked within 30 days after purchas1e. All rebates paid in US dollars. Photocopies, facsimiles or reproductions of
serial number labels will NOT be accepted.

how are you supposed to send in TWO UPCs if they won't accept a copy? =_=

Sorry, guys, but Buy.com's pic appears to show a 64-bit 5700LE (note only half the visible memory banks are filled, and there's no explicit mention of 128-bit memory). NewEgg's picture shows half the slots filled. TigerDirect's, however, shows all visible banks filled and explicitly lists the bandwidth as 6.4GB/s (meaning 128-bit). Mwave's pic is justs XFX's, which is so tiny that I can't make out how many banks are filled. Oddly, this pic also shows a passive HSF, not the active HSF on every other site. All are labelled the PVT36LRA, so the question is, do you trust TigerDirect's labelling or NewEgg's pics? I trust NewEgg's pics and my deduction, but if TigerDirect sends you a 64-bit card, you have legimate grounds to ask for a total refund. (Whether you'll get it or not is another question, depending on whether TD's customer service matches their reputation for their rebate redemption. 😉)

If this is 64-bit, I'd probably pass on this for gaming, unless you're a fan of 640x480 or 800x600 at 16-bit. For a non- or very light-gaming card, though, this should be very nice. I believe it'll be enough for Longhorn's 3D desktop, and I also believe it uses very little power.

If it's 128-bit, it should be a decent card.

So, IMO:

$20 AR? Yes, for office use/DVD watching, and *very* light gaming.
$50AR? No. A GF3 will probably be faster, except maybe in Doom 3. Otherwise, for a gamer, I'd suggest a used GF4Ti, or maybe a new Rosewill/Jetway 128-bit 9600 for $76 @ NewEgg, or--better yet--a used 9600P/9500P (if you can find one for <$90).

Thanks for the heads up, Silvestry. Hope you don't take my post as unkind, but rather a word of warning. 🙂 Enjoy your holidays, and don't worry, there's always another deal around the corner.

Edit: What the ... the OP was made last month? Nice bump. 😀

i think its a typo the first rebate should've been 1/1/2005 - 1/31/2005 not 1/1/2004-1/31/2005

thats how buy.com shows 2 rebates now because of that typo maybe? 😕

Yes, it is absolutely a typo on the Buy.com website. The rebates are mutually exclusive. I confirmed this over the phone with a Buy.com phone rep this morning. There will be some pretty unhappy folks when they find that the second rebate is not honored. I ordered this card and cancelled it after I found out about the rebate problem. Maybe one could convince Buy.com to honor the listed price but, for me, it's just not worth the hassle.

Sadly, this is the 64-bit version. I confirmed this by going to the XFX site, and tried to "buy" the card - only then it discloses 64-bit in the title.

Having said that, the card overclocks like a mofo. I was able to go from 250MHz/400MHz core/memory to 400MHz/500MHz with no problems whatsoever. In fact, coolbits even confirmed the memory would work at 510MHz, but I left it at 500MHz, and the core may even have more headroom, but I think I'm happy with a 60% overclock ;-)

From the looks of it, when overclocked, this card performs better than my (overclocked, of course) GF4200Ti, which I still regard as a decent card to this day. I use the 5700LE in my game box that outputs to my TV at 800x600, and so far, this card rocks. The TV out is very clear and straight as well, better than the ATI 9200 I was using before. Also, the card has DX9 capability, and I was able to run 3DMark03 on it and get around a 2500 score without any tweaks (still overclocked) (Athlon 2400XP, dual-channel).

Moral - if you are a cheapskate overclocker, this card is a joy. The difference between this 64-bit version and the 128-bit version isn't a whole lot, it is mostly made up with the overclock, and you're left with maybe a 10% difference.

I called today to check on my rebate since it has been showing "Valid" "In Process" for weeks now. The CSR said it has been processed and gave me a check number. When I asked when I would get it she said "Later". I asked do you mean later today or later this week? She said no, she meant later and that they check hadn't been printed yet as they have to wait for an audit to be completed before they would be issued. So all she could say is that they'd be mailed "later". Sounds kind of fishy to me.
