Hi Hi,

My first "new topic." So be kind!!! =) Saw this on Tech*Bar...

I also searched and did not find anything related to this.

Like the message title says:

Buy.com
XFX GeForce FX 5700LE - 128MB DDR TV DVI 8X AGP DX9 - PVT36LRA
$89.99 -> $49.99AR

UPDATE: NOW $98.27 -> $58.27AR. Ends 12/20. Thanks for the info Jester666.

LINKIE

Rebate ends today though (11/28)...

Is this a good entry level card? For SIMS 2-like games...

I just finished HL2 and playing Doom3 with a 5600 256MB, so it can't be TOO bad... High detail, 1026x768 on both.... 🙂

Yikes, either the rest of your system is amazing, or you can tolerate singe digit framerates. I know a friend who beat Doom 3 on an mx 420 but i got a headache just watching his screen.

Yeah, getting 400MHz+ out of a 250MHz 5700LE isn't uncommon. But too bad the 5ns memory isn't going to overclock as well.

What's the diff between the 5700LE and the 5700? And is this 128-bit memory interface? I don't remember hearing much about the "LE" tag for the Geforce models.

not a 5700 LE. The 5700 Ulta is a completely different beast. I got 540MHz core and over 1050MHz memory on mine with stock cooling and no modifications.

OCNewbie: The 5700 series is:
5700 Ultra 475MHz core, 950MHz 128-bit GDDR3 memory
5700 (regular) 425MHz core, 500MHz (or 550MHz) 128-bit GDDR1 memory
5700 LE 250MHz core, 400MHz 128-bit memory
5700 LE junk edition 250MHz core, 400MHz 64-bit memory

there were also a few oddball versions of the 5700 regular with 325-400MHz core speeds.

This one wouldn't be the "junk edition" would it? Any way to tell from the above link? I wouldn't mind buying a lower cost vid card (to upgrade my onboard Nforce2 MX graphics) to hold me over before I decide to buy a PCI-E enabled mobo. Thinking maybe this might do the trick, if it will allow for a little oc'ng?

Here's a link from XFX's website http://www.xfxforce.com/product_view.php?sku=PVT36LRA

Doesn't clearly state if the memory is 64 or 128, just says something about 128-bit color.

Well, I am talking about taking a normal 5700LE and modding it to 1100 memory. I can't find the review right now but they did do a voltage mod to memory and gpu.

Impossible, even with LN2.

Can anyone tell me if this would be a step up from a Gainward VTI450 Titanium GF2 Ti 450 64MB?

Thanks

Ok, I'm dense and it's a busy day... So, Bigpow is your answer that this is a significant step up or not? This would be for a kids xmas present and I don't want to dissapoint him. He's trying to improve FPS in Rome Total War with a 2400 XP and 512 of PC2100.

Thanks

it will obvioiusly be many steps up from geforce2....

I was interested in this deal as I missed out on 9600xt @ $69 ... but just foundout this card isnt much faster than my ti4600.. Ill hold until some better deals with 6600gt or 6800.

I was going to pick one of these up, signed into my buy.com account and added to my cart. I wanted to use a different CC, so i added it to my account. I submitted the new card info, and it logged me out of buy.com. When i try to log in, it says there is no account. It also says no account when go to "forgot password". :disgust:

Would this be a worthwhile upgrade for one my systems? Athlon 1.4 w/ 512 PC2100 currently running a geforce 3 ti 200 or a Compaq SP750. Just wanted to max out this old 1.4 AMD box. I believe I'm running some Epox mobo with a hpt raid controller on it and that it only goes up to AGP 4x. Will this card even work on my one of my rigs?

Hey, I am wondering the same thing. Thanks pxc for the info btw, on the various nVidia cards...

I am still using a nVidia TNT2... So I am looking to upgrade a few generations... But there are so many choices out there now, so confusing... I still like nVidia though...
