Every coupon they issue, their stock will drop 1 cent.

Come and pray for this company, who always bring us some good deals!

How many people here who shop at buy.com regularly are willing to support the company by buying some of their stock?

Considering how much money in these forms spend on hardware, picking up a couple of hundred shares at current prices isn't asking THAT much, and if enough people bought stock, it would bump up the price and allow buy.com to remain listed for a while, which in turn would allow us to continue having great deals.

Any faults in this logic?

Buying their stock at any time other than the IPO has absolutely NO EFFECT on the company. You are only buying stock from someone on the open market. If you wish to support the company, then buy their products.

The are at 1.38 right now. If they fall below 1.00 for a month they get de-listed. Seeing pets.com get shut down this month was really disheartening to me. I would not be suprised it the same fate is in store for buy.

The good news is that they shipped my final item!

So them getting de-listed because their stock price is under a dollar for too long isn't a bad thing? I'd call that some "EFFECT" (caps yours) on the company. I understand that none of the money that people would use to buy buy.com stock would go to buy.com, but saying that a company's stock price has "NO EFFECT" sounds wrong to me... morale at buy.com can't be that high right now (anybody know what employees options strike price was?), and propping up the stock price could definitely help that.

Got a question. Why did Buy.com pull out of Australia? Is it because the amount of sales they were getting in Australia didn't support their operations there, or is Buy.com trying to roll back their resources and concentrate on fewer markets.I hope the closing up shop down under doesn't affect the U.S. branch.

dcdomain--I believe it's because they're trying to focus on fewer markets to get to profitability more quickly..

as it stands now, they're projecting profitability in 2 or 3rd quarter 2001....most analysts had pegged us at about 2nd or 3rd quarter 2002....we'lll have to see how it all plays out though I guess..

mansnake--working here is a situation of extremes...it can be really fun and rewarding at times, but for the IT staff at least it can often be one of the most infuriating places to ever work... IT staff turnover has been high lately because of these frustrations... so like any Internet company, you basically have to take the highs and the lows in stride I suppose.. I personally have learned a whole heck of a lot while I've been here...not many 23 year olds can say that they are one of the primary software engineers at a billion dollar internet company.. :)
