buy.com shipping question

alright guys ........this is not all that off topic...excuse me.......I need to get myself a plextor 12x burnproof drive and I have only 2-3 days for it.........my bro will be leaving for India(I am currently in India) this saturday and he asked me to order the drive online and make sure that it comes by this friday ......I know that next day air is the only option for me right now but I have a feeling that it still wouldn't reach.......buy.com says it takes 24-48 hrs to process.......am I supposed to be optimistic on this and go ahead with the order? or should I ask my lazy bro to go to the store and buy it for a whopping 220 or 230 or whatever?......I just want to know if you guys have encountered and similar situation.....if yes what do I do now? .. oh one more thing....bro said that he can give his card info only in the evening today(CST)....

With buy.com you never know. I've had things that have been shipped the same day I've ordered them, and also times it hasn't been shipped for a few days.

Oh yeah, another thing is that they have multiple warehouses they ship from, so that might have some effect on the delivery time too.

If you absolutely can't take a chance of it being late, better go to the store. What good does it do to save a few bucks if it doesn't come in time? Even if it says "in stock", even if it says it will ship today, you still can't take a chance. The carrier might not deliver in time, or what if it's defective?
