This is wierd. I was just checking my mail then these three e-mails from buy.com came. Now I'm faced with the decision.

Should I keep the PS2? Is it their problem if they screwed up and shipped it? Can they charge my card even though I didn't order this extra unit that they sent to me?

I haven't received the unit yet... so it could be a fluke in their system. Then again, if they shipped this PS2 as they did with my first shipment then will have trouble calling it it back since USPS doesn't have a recall feature like UPS does for in progress shipments?

I would not keep the PS2, I would send it back at their expense, or buy it and resell it if that was an option.

Why do ppl always post when a store send them extra stuff, asking if they should keep it or not? Don't their parents teach them anything? School? Hello? Are you such a bad thief that you need moral support to steal?

Are they so bad of a company that they can't keep track of their orders? ;)

Keep in mind companies, including buy.com, use many tactics to take advantage of the customer. An example is bait-and-switch. A more common I see ocassionally is the practice of putting items on out of stock canceling orders then in stock again after raising the price. I wouldn't really call that fair play on their part. Lot of customers get screwed this way.

braxus, someone else said this happened to 'em...maybe ygreenkitty?

I don't know, I'd probably feel bad and return it if I was in your shoes...but then again I invested in buy.com and almost lost my shirt, so maybe not...

I wouldn't return it, but tell them your buying it. Let them charge your card.

You are not under any legal obligation to return something that was mailed to you that you did not request. They can not charge your credit card without you saying they can. That is illegal and they get fined by the credit card companies for doing that. The way I look at it, it's yours to keep. I could be wrong but I don't think so.

I am leaning toward what optoman says. I think I might keep it and see what they do. Its kinda one of those grey areas. Its not theft, because they sent it to you. I think you should think of it as a gift. Just think of them as Indian-givers, as we used to say in elementary. You can always use two of them. Put them in diff. rooms or something. VaNeleus, OUT.

it's yours to keep, just like any mistaken shipment. whether you choose to keep it or not is entirely up to you.

If they were such a bad company why did you buy from them? This company owes you nothing but a product you paid for.

If you're going to keep it thats one thing but don't pretend you are being moral - because you are not. You didn't pay for it and you know you do not deserve to have it; that is why you posted here.

So, do you make the decision based upon moral or financial standards? Your choice.

Braxus:
It's their fault, so technically they should allow you to AT LEAST purchase the Playstation 2 at the regular price of $300. If so, I think you should buy it and put it on auction or be a really friendly person and send it to me and I'll pay the full retail price. I would be willing... =D

Its a law that if a company sends you something you didnte request that it is yours and you do not have to pay for it. You ordered the first one so you have to pay for it ... you did not order the second one so you do not have to pay for it but you can keep it.
