I ordered two of these and love them.

I actually prefer them to the Logitech MX700 which cost twice as much.

So, I highly recommend it.....

Pain in the a**, as I keep forgetting to put it in the charger overnight.

I would rather have batteries like this one...........

This makes no sense. The MS and Logitech mice both use 2xAA. The Logitech comes with a cradle that charges the batteries and the MS does not.

So you are returning the mouse that comes with a charger because the charger is a pain? Why don't you just change the batteries instead and you'll have the same effect as you will with MS mouse!

LOL!

The Logitech eats through batteries like crazy. If you forget to charge it, you can end up with a dead mouse in a span of days. Not very convenient unless you always remember to put the mouse back in the cradle...

I went almost 7 months with my Wireless Explorer 2 before having to replace the batteries, and then I just put them in a quick charger, and ware ready to go in an hour.

Some people would much rather have to worry about the batteries every 6 months or so, then deal with the batteries all and constantly recharge them.

Same experience as brian_r here, I own 3 Ms intelimouse explorers and a Logitech MX duo.

There is NO comparison in battery consumption between my Logitech (whether it be with rechargeables or new duracell's) and my explorers. The Logitech eats thru batteries like CRAZY in comparison esp. with the newer explorers.

I find it hard to believe the mx700 can go two weeks without a recharge, unless maybe you only use it an hour a day. I have to recharge mine in 3 days MAX with about 6 hours of usage a day.

My Mx700 goes maybe two weeks on a single charge. I've never had any problems with keeping it fully charged...

Ditto, and I still havent had to change the batteries on my keyboard, I have had this setup for over 7 months now. I personally don't find it a hassle. But hey, whatever justifies your purchase, right?

Keyboards are a different story, not relevant to the battery usage of the mice being discussed. I already own 2 mx700, they in no way last 2 weeks before a charge is needed unless you barely use it each day. Even new and fully charge, it'll last a week. I've ordered this MS to see how it compares.

Granted a week is no comparison to 6 months, how hard is it to put it on the charger??? I havent had to pay for batteries in at least the 7 months so far, its really the same thing. My parents used my setup and liked it so much I bought them the same MX duo...if my old folks can handle it, I think you guys can. Not trying to diss this product, but you can stop dissing the MX Duo, nothin wrong with it.

I have no doubt in my mind that the battery usage is directly related to the accuracy of the scanning engine. The MX700 is 4.7 megapixels and the MX510 is 5.8 megapixels. Microsoft doesn't even publish the resolution of their mice. It doesn't take a marketing degree to tell you what that means. ;)

That said, this is definitely a steal for $20! Any high-level optical/wireless is probably worth that price. Especially if you can't get the MX700 for less than $70 at the time. I was able to get it for $30 and have seen other deals here for similar prices.
It's tempting to buy this in addition to my MX700 just because it's so cheap! :D

I just got mine, it's blue (not sure which one)... Freaking hot deal. I won't be using this for gaming, the mouse wheel isn't exactly made for that, but it'll do fine on either my dad's computer or my laptop, and for the price you really can't go wrong. Deal is still alive, by the way. Microsoft is selling them for like $50 last I checked.
