Does anyone know if these type of systems (with more RAM, of course) can run Win2K server? I am just starting my MCSE track and would like to set up a server at home, but I am concerned that these systems with everything on the main board (video, sound, etc) will pose a problem.

Any comments?

"3D 64bit 133mhz AGP graphics" and no mention of a sound card.

Sounds like it might have the 810 chipset, which means no AGP slot = no video upgrades (unless you put in a PCI card, but why bother.)

Not a system for anyone with gaming in mind, but ok for grandpa and his solitaire and AOL...

those speakers suck.....

the specs of the computer don't really attractive, for about the same price or couple dollars more, you can get an Athlon or T-bird system with better specs.....

You know, I am very skeptical of 3 year warranties from NO name companies. I paid extra for a 3 year warranty from Webzter PC and they didn't even last 8 months..... So don't put too much weight behind that...

Just my 2 cents...

Again, for those that keep telling us how we can do better for the same price (or a couple dollars more), post the links. If you're talking about a homebuild, post some component prices and don't forget Win98SE.

Look, I don't expect that this deal is for most people on this board. The hardware is mediocre at best. But it IS a hot deal, maybe not for you, but for a few of my customers that are looking for budget machines.

This is ever so tempting as a Christmas present for my mom. She has a P166MMX right now, this would make for a nice upgrade, and a really nice Christmas present.

Here is the company's website. The have been around for a couple of years, seems to be decent stuff.

And their site to configure a system. Comprable system to the one at buy.com would be almost $600.

Buy.com is letting me use a 30 off 150 coupon on the computer. I'm sitting at the screen to "process order" and it's still there in the cart. Bummer, they charge tax on things shipped to Indiana even though it's being billed to Georgia (tax didn't show up until I put my mom's address in there).

just get the emachine 600is for 399.99 it is avail at circuit city and other electronic stores or online at circuitcity.com it has the specs i posted above

Circuit City deal has the Emachine 600is listed for $479 and only 32meg RAM. I think the $319 is a better deal.

I disagree... Think of TAX + Shipping...

DOTD was a better deal.. It really depends on what you want...

For the "I gotta have the latest thing on the market" person it's not so good..

For the average user.. it's a nice little deal..

Ok guys, in my opinion, system depends on how good you want them to run. As for me I am a graphic designer and I need good stuff. But for those who just want a decent computer, you can surf around and find the cheapest parts and put them together yourself, it is really not that hard at all. Hop on a few deals, go in/out of the for sales sctions. I am sure you can find better systems with the same price. For Example, just example Krex Computers have pretty amazing bargains weekly and now they have a The Plug and Go Pentium III FC-PGA PreSystem 133Mhz Bus you can just add HardDrive, CPU, and memory which are really cheap now. Price have droppped so much during the past 2 months it's amazing. You can get a 128mb Ram for $60-70 and a HardDrive say 15-20GB for around $50-60 and CPU same thing too. I am not saying the BUY.com DOTD is not good, it's okay, but not great like they used to have some amzing blowout prices.

I just got my Racer PC in the mail today. Looks like a cool little computer. Nice case for the price of the system. Reading the manual and this is a Socket 370/Intel 810 mainboard. Does anyone know what bus speeds this system runs at (with this particular MB) and what speed Celerons that Intel chipset will support?

From the manual:
*Single Intel Socket-370 mechanism for Intel Celeron or Coppermine CPU
*Support 66/100/133 FSB

I agree - just got one of these boxes last week. For $320 its a great deal. No AGP video, only 3 PCI's but stick a NIC in and its a great second "net" PC...
