I never once gave a second thought to energy compliance when considering audio equipment. The more wattage, the better.

As commOdog pointed out, this is only Dolby Pro Logic; it's not Dolby Digital, so forget about DTS. The sound is not sharp (no pun intended) at high level on this unit; you get what you pay for, even at this price - my 2 cents

I'd just get one of these to hook it up to the computer and replace my cheap computer speakers. You can pay over $129 for a good pair of computer speakers, so why not get a whole surround sound system for the same price. *IF* I were in the US, I'd order this, but I'm not, so I won't. Boohoo.

I ordered this and if you add about 21 bucks more. I ordered a Cell phone headphone for $20.88 your purchase is now worth 150.88. Using the $30 off $150 brings the price down to $126. If you like to watch movies than you must be into DVD. If you are into DVD you know that you at least need Dolby Digital 5.1, if you've ever heard it.
As for listening to music with this, the SHARP site doesn't even list the THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) so I bet it's REALLY HIGH.

I have a feeling this unit really IS SUCK.

Don't let them take your money for this antique.

I would recommend saving up for a GOOD sounding system, quality speakers cost $$$ too.

They don't list the THD or any other measurements besides the demensions and weight. It seems like the description is more focused on features than specs. That doesn't mean they must suck, I have an older sharp component system and it's actually prety good. Of course, it is mass market stuff. I'll let you know how it sounds when I get it. I'm sure it will be better than the cheap speakers I have on my computer now.

I like Sharp electronics. when I was taking math in highschool you could buy a sharp calculator for $15 that had three times the functions of a TI calc that cost twice the price. Of course now I have a TI-85 which I haven't used to do more then simple addition for three years....though it did help me pass a class in college. Anyway....
