buy.com 48-hour matrix reloaded dvd problems??

a friend of mine got an email from buy.com saying that anything during the 48hour sale (that ended aug 1) would automatically have the matrix reloaded dvd automatically added to the cart with a coupon that would make it free. he ordered two flat panel lcd monitors and did not get the dvds. trying to call buy.com, they were going to charge him $10 to get through to a rep so he wrote them an email and is waiting for a response. i was just wondering if anybody else was getting scammed by this same deal.
 
The offer was valid only with the purchase of one of some 16 selected items they had for the 48-hour sale. It wasn't for any purchase in the store.

I remember that deal and that it was vague as to which items counted towards the promotion, but...

why would he get the dvd with his flatpanels? It doesn't come out for, what, a month?
 
i know the dvd doesn't come out until october and i checked out the email with the offer he received. i guess they would just ship it to him whenever the dvd came out.

actually, the email he received (i have a copy here) said that any product in the 48-hour sale qualified for the promotion.

Read that statement. Any product IN the 48-hour sale qualified. It had to be a product that was included in the 48hour sale. Not any item at buy.com

Otherwise he could have bought a box of pens for $0.50 to get the dvd.
