When I got my first smartphone (Windows 8) I saw a recommendation for Amazing Weather HD. I paid $1.99 for it and loved it. Used it all the time. Its radar allowed me predictions of when it would rain. IIRC, I could drill down or out to the extent that I could see my house if I wanted or see the whole north Pacific Ocean! One day over a year ago I got a message that they were pulling support because "Windows Phone isn't the stallion it once was." BUMMER! The message announced a date when the app would stop working and it did. I haven't found another weather app I really like for Windows Phone.

So, I should have my first Android phones coming by Fedex tomorrow, cheap $30 phones, LG Rebel 3 LTE L158VL.

Amazing Weather HD for Android appears to also be $1.99. Would I have to buy the app again for Andoid?

Searching, I see that this app is evidently not considered one of the best for Android, so I might be better off looking elsewhere for weather apps anyway.

As far as I know, yes, you will have to buy it again, because the Google Play Store (Android), the Microsoft Store (MS Phone), and the Apple App Store (iPhone), are all owned by different companies, and a purchase at one of those stores, does not give you the inherent right to download the same app from a different store for free. Remember, each of those stores wants their cut of the app's sales, so they're not really interested in giving you a free copy from "their" store, since they don't get a cut of the sale, like the original sale did.

Think of it this way: You can buy Levi's or Wrangler jeans at multiple retail stores. If you get a tear in one of them, you have to return it to the store that you bought it from, not just any store that carries that brand. The reason behind that, is the same reason that I explained about the app stores. Every store wants their own cut of the sale.

Yeah, I'll see how I do with other Android weather apps. There's certain to be a better supply of free ones than exist for Windows phone. I saw a few sites talking about best weather apps for Android, including this:

Best weather apps for android 2019

Some of those are free and highly extolled.

Of course you have to buy a license for each platform. You don't expect Adobe Photoshopt Windows license to work on OS X, right?

And yeah, there are tons of free weather Apps, why pay for it?
