Buy a Motherboard with a Processor?

I was searching around Newegg.com to buy the Motherboard that I want. Sadly it was out of stock. I went to phase 2 and googled the motherboard (EPOX EP-9NPA+ ULTRA) and found this site mwave.com. I was going to buy the motherboard when I found an option to include the processor I want with the motherboard (AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+).

I was wondering if that would be a bad idea to have them shipped together, or should I buy them individually and put them together myself?

Edit: I could also get a fan with it too. Should I get another fan or just stick with the one it comes with?

I don't see why it would be a bad idea to get the cpu with the motherboard. If you check the prices of the cpus alone...they are less expensive to get it with the motherboard package. Also, mwave is a pretty decent site to order from, so you should be good.

Check out monarchcomputer.com

I got my DFI NF4 Ultra-D/3000+ Venice combo there.

Ships fast, comes assembled and you get HL2, 4 months of Napster and Far Cry for free.

It came way faster than UPS via FedEx Express Saver and they did a good job packing everything.

Sadness Monarchcomputer.com won't let me use the epox mobo I was planning on. well I think I'll go with a gigabyte ga-k8nf-9 instead.

I don't think they actually ship the cpu attached to the motherboard, I believe they are just giving you a discount when you buy both at the same time (or in the case of monarch give you a discount and test them before they are shipped.)

So provided there is a discount and since buying from one 'discount' retailer is typically going to be cheaper than buying from 2 (saves on shipping) I would see absolutely no reason not to buy the combo, and I like mWave anyway 🙂

check the warranty for the combo plate. I think a processor from AMD has a 3 year if purchased 'in Box' (plastic container) and a 1 year if purchased through reseller., eg attached to mobo.

I second Monarch. . . Ordered a AMD Winchester 3200 with a MSI K8N4 Platinum.

Great service smooth delivery and a good system from it. . .

Monarch was great, and the Half Life 2 and Far Cry games weren't bad either. . .

If you buy the combo, Monarch does ship it with the CPU attached. . .

I don't know about anyone else though. . .

Thanks,
