What should i do, buy a Chaintech 128mb GF3Ti200, or wait till the prices drop a little on the 128mb GF4Ti200's? How well suited is the GF4 ti200, and how well will it do on doom 3 vs a GF3ti200?

I believe you mean a GF4 Ti4200 and the answer is that you should get that one over a GF3 Ti200.

I was also thinking about this, although not for any specific manufacturer. Which brings me on to my question.

I've been looking around at GF4 Ti4200 cards and the only ones I can find generally available are from Abit, Aopen, Creative, and Leadtek. Is one manufacturers card better than the others in terms of performance? Or is the difference in the bundle they sell?

Thanks

What the heck? I haven't seen any Ti4200 cards from Abit, Aopen, Creative, or Leadtek. Where did you see those? In fact, the only mfgs. selling in mass (in the U.S.A.) are Gainward and Visiontek. I know it's just a matter of time before the others join in, but I don't know what you're talking about. Do a search on Pricewatch and tell me where you found a single G4 Ti4200 from one of those mentioned mfgs. If you're seeing them in non-U.S. markets, then I apologize.

Yeah, I'm in the UK. But still, I only found them on one or two suppliers sites. And two out of the four i mentioned have long lead times.

This is where I saw them. (hope the link works, as it is search results). They're hidden in there somewhere.

Hey metallibloke. I figured you must have been outside the US. That's cool that you've got some Ti4200's showing up in your market. To answer you original question, then, without a doubt go for the 128mb G4 Ti4200. This card is the one to have for today's games and should run upcoming titles like Doom III and Unreal 2 just fine. I'm hoping this card lasts 1-2 years. The G3 is still a good card, but eliminate any regret and opt for the G4. Good luck man.

Yeah it does not surprise me that he was able to find cards from
manufacturers that have not shown up in the states. Just last week
I found the new GeForce 4's from Creative but it was on the European
site only, and they do not ship to the US. I spoke to a Creative service
rep and he said they would not be released in the states. I wonder
why? I have always liked Creative graphics cards, oh well.

Thanks for the info, Drysdale. I'm quite surprised that we have them listed in our suppliers already, as usually the states gets them first, but i'm not complaining ;)
