Buy a digital converter or a new TV?

my 25" TV is about 12yrs old. it still works fine, but it's not digital ready.

all i have is rabbit ears. i dont watch tv that much. (~1hr/day)

i let my govt dtv $40 coupons expire and cant get more. 🙁

the highly rated zenith dtv901 converter boxes are $50. all tv's built this century are digital ready.

buy a converter box, or use that $50 towards a new tv?

Why can't you get another coupon? I just signed up for one today and they said they you can get another if it expires. Even if you can't get one yourself do you have a buddy that will help you and get a coupon for you.

I watch a decent amount of TV and while I wouldn't mind something nicer than the 27" thing I pulled out my sister's basement I'd rather spend the money on flying home to see my family or on my old jeep. However, that's my priorities and yours may be different.
 
Get a cheap converter for crissakes.

If you're happy with your old TV set then help the environment by keeping your old tube.
 
My coupons expired on the 15th of april, i was out of town and couldnt get them to work on amazon. I just re-applied on Monday and they are sending me new ones within a week. The site said that I had to wait a certain period of time after expiration before it would let me re-order the coupons so you should be able to just get new ones and buy boxes.

they must have changed the law.

last year when the coupons expired, you're SOL. i tried applying again, but it said you're SOL.

i just tried, and am receiving them next week. 🙂

 
I got a converter box, but it can't pick up NBC, CBS and ABC signals, anyone have any clue on how to pick up those signals? I do have an antenna that hooks up to my converter box. One converter box is an apex.
