I posted this in the wrong catagory, my mistake. Anyways this is what I asked:
My brother got his 7800GT back on launch day and is willing to give it to me for $190, would it be worth it to go for it, or should I spend $50 and go for a 7900GT?
So what do you think? Thanks.

Thanks for responding to this second post.:)

Lol

If you will be able to grab a 7900GT, I would recommend the evga brand, I heard they have a good reputation in customer servive and the step-up thingamajig.

I know. If I get a 7900GT is will be from eVGA or XFX. The 7800GT is an eVGA actually.

that's not a bad deal...the eVGA 7800gt CO's performance is almost identical to a stock 7800GTX, but if the extra $50 is not an issue then go for a 7900gt

Then vmod it. Just watch out on the memory vmod (or just don't do it). However the core vmod is essential.

You could always spend $35 more and get an X1800XT. Well worth the extra money spent over a 7800GT.

Is it difficult or time consuming to do the volt mod, I've never done one on a video card before.

Took me 5 minutes. If you can draw a line, you can do the vmod.

Even without volt modding its well worth the $40 over the 7800gt, just with normal overclocks.
