Buy 9800 or wait for NV35?

First off let me say that I believe the NV35 has been done for about a month now but Nvidia has to wait awhile before they can release a new card so soon after the launch of the NV30. If I am correct, I could be wrong, but from a technology standpoint the NV30 was always done on time it was the fabrication process that screwed things up, which is why Nvidia signed with IBM, right? I am wondering if Nvidia will learn from screwing up and take NV35 to the next level. The 9700 was impressive and ATI improved on that card with the 9800 so I would really be suprised to see any kind of leap when the NV35 comes out.

Do you guys think the NV35 will make a significant leap in performance over the 9800? Lets not be biased either because barring the FX screw up Nvidia has been on point.

Let's suppose NV35 is not going to be released for 2 months. Can you wait 2 months?
If not, go out and buy the 9800 Pro.

If you're ready to plunk down $400 on a VGA, I'd wait for the nV35, then compare it to the 9800Pro, and buy whichever suits your needs best.
I've read also that it's done, will be out by June. If it's a BIG leap forward over the 9800/5800, you'll regret the 9800, which will be devalued by the nV35.

A big leap over the 9800Pro? Already? Lol. Really, who cares?

IMO you're either rich, retarded or ruled by your ego if you buy the NV35 OR the 9800PRO anytime in the next 3-4 months :)

"IMO you're either rich, retarded or ruled by your ego if you buy the NV35 OR the 9800PRO anytime in the next 3-4months "

Of course, since apparently think people's choice of VGA is a good reason to label and slander them, your opinion probably isn't worth much.
In the old days, you would have been the old man at the general store sputtering, "You're either rich, retarded, or status hungry if you buy one of those new fangled horseless carriages now! Wait till the prices drop, save some money! Horse will get a man around fine!"

Yeah, that game is going to be a significant boost for the hardware industry no doubt. :)

3 questions.
1. When is the NV35 due date, or hasn't it been announced yet. (actual date, not approximate month)
2. When is Doom3 due date, same as above.
3. What is the blue stuff hairstylists place their combs in? (damn curious)

LOL, what if your a dishwasher at Joe's Diner? I hear he doesn't even offer bennies....

But seriously, If you havent upgraded in a couple of years, then go for it. If you just bought a GF4Ti4600 or ATI 9500/9700, wait a couple of years. IMO

Everybody knows Joe's a prick when it comes to money......but I remember spending almost that much on a guitar back in high school (1976 money too!) on my meager earnings as a clerk in a logging supply store. Obviously, if he were looking for a value card, he'd be asking about one.

You are right, I was just trying to make some funniness.
I just purchased a Sapphire Radeon 9700 non pro. It was an upgrade from a GeForce2 Ti 64MB card.
All I can say is "WOW", now that's an upgrade worth 232.00 and will last me for a long time.
There is nothing, and I mean nuthin that this card cant handle. I played UT2K3 at the highest possible
res, detail, AA/AF, you name it, the card didn't even break a sweat. And lets not even get into Serious Sam. hehe.

If you have the bucks handy, buy the best you can now for the longevity of it.
But, I think it would be wise to wait for the NV35 to come out. If it sucks just like the NV30 did, Buy the ATI of course.
If it rocks, buy the NV35. This is if you can wait of course.

The nice weather is here for a few months so grass cutting, dog/baby walking, golf, etc... will keep me busy. I'll turn on my PC once in a while to make sure it still works, maybe by September we'll have some good reason to buy a new NV35 or ATI card. I'm really looking forward to Doom]|[ and now maybe Half-Life II. Now if Duke Forever actually comes out I may drop over in shock.

If you have a geforce 4 ti or later card, there is no reason to upgrade. These cards currently run every game on the market very well and there is little point getting anything else since no games can take advantage of. If you have a geforce 3 generation chip, it might be a good time to upgrade.

You can play the waiting game forever and never make a decision.

Should I buy the NV35 when it comes out or wait for the R350 or the NV40 or R400?
Should I buy a Canterwood or wait for a Prescott or Opteron?
