Am I doing something wrong? I don't want to get fleeced.

That's a horrible first post 😛

No way. It was a GREAT first post.

Nicely done.

Actually..... thanks for the heads up on this...
Sis-in-law raises Alpacas, and my wife is either going to start or else she's going to raise miniature llamas.
buy 2 get 1 free potentially means quite a few thousand dollars savings...

edit: nevermind... overpriced. (or, the ones on the page are 15-20 thousand dollars more than what they expect to get at auction on a 4 blue ribbon alpaca)

Yes!!! I'll finallyhave meat for the winter!!!

so you're saying 4 blue ribbon is like sirlon while these alpacas are more like fillets?

This buy 2 get one free is just for a stud service, not an actual alpaca. That's crazy what some of those prices are for actual alpacas.

jeez, Howard Stern talks about alpacas all the time. He even had an alpaca farmer on the radio this morning. Funny thing is, their value is only derived from the fact that new people will start raising them. If the interest in farming them dies, so to will the demand, cause you can't eat 'em and their wool is pretty much worthless.

Is this like worm farming?

I see them adverise these things in Orlando. They say it is a GREAT experiance to be a alpaca farmer. Why would it be?

Alpaca wool is not worthless. It is one of the softer wools out there. Especially the baby ones.

You shave babies for wool? whoa! :Q:laugh:

The major tax advantages of alpaca ranching include the use of depreciation, capital gains treatment, and if you are a hands-on rancher, the ability to offset your ordinary income with expenses from your alpaca ranching business.

Wow. Pets with tax write-offs.

Well, once we find out what Moshquerade is wearing, is there any chance she is offering the same deal?

(sorry mosh, I couldn't resist).
