Button in the back of PSU

There's a red button in the back of the PSU, and when pressed, the indicator LED changes from blue to yellow/green, and the fan seems to slow down. Press it again and it changes to red, fan seems to speed up. Change it again, and back to blue. Any idea what it's for?

I came across a Zumax PSU (made by epower i think) that had a button similar to what you describe. when pressed it would make the psu fan spin faster. Also, some of the cables where supposed to be especially for case fans, when the button was pressed the fans would spin at full speed (12V), otherwise the fans would spin at half speed (6V)...

It's just as you found it to be. A fan speed controller. Of course, once the PSU reaches a critical temperature (usually 40 or 50°C), the fan's thermal controller over-rides the button.

I was hoping it would be a self destruct button for when your porn collection is under scrutiny.
hrm..... possible market for such a thing ?
