Butterflies make good heatsinks

If I were gay, I would buy one of those in a heart beat, sprinkle glitter on it, and use a pink LED fan. That way, you can see it through my justin timberlake transparent case window.

i only looked at the first page. i wouldn't be surprised if they perform in the midrange once frostytech or someone
ranks them against other HSF's.

pretty good gift for the AT'er that has a 10 year old daughter. watch out, she might out OC her parents.

will they make one shaped like a tiger or something for the 10 year old son ?

I believe an aluminum optimus prime action figure would make an excellent makeshift passive heatsink. All you need to do is use adhesive thermal conductive like ceramique, place optimus's feet on the cpu, and you have a 10 year old son's heatsink. I don't think you can use toys designed for more grown up tastes for heatsinks, though, as rubber doesn't conduct heat well. Even if the apparatus was metallic, you would have a heck of a time trying to muffle the annoying vibrations inside your case.

That's for sure. No one with a y chromosome would think of buying these heatsinks.

Just like no one with a y chromosome would think of buying a heatsink shaped like a big metal flower?

The vf 700's don't look like flowers. They look more like a giant copper turbine of death that will butcher your appendages if you stick anything into the manly man's 1 foot phallus of death, that is the 80mm uber cooling fan. On the other hand, I would honestly buy a heatsink
shaped like optimus prime, however, I have no idea where the fan will go.

Hey, that's cute!

Now they need a line of PSUs shaped like gingerbread houses, some cuckoo clock cases, and Little Debbie case fans... 🙂

The Zalman heatsinks design has performance and manufacturing benefits. Giving a heatsink plastic eyes, mouth, and an antenna so it resembles a butterfly serves no function at all other then making it look completely stupid.

Yeah damn if it works well who cares what it looks like i mean how often do you stare lovingly at your hs. if you are worried about that i would say that is more gay than the hs itself.

At least it is functional, unlike all the other queer stuff people do to their cases (ie led lighting, led fans, side windows with neon crap, etc.). I'm still not really a fan of HS with these sorta integrated fan designs (same with the zalman). How much does it cost to replace the fan if it burns out?

On (most of?) the Zalman's it's possible to rig another fan to fit, it just takes some doing. And a few power tools.

Um...

I don't know about the kid posting crap, but I stare at MY HS all day!

Something wrong with that? Beats looking at tripe... 🙂

When buying a heatsink I would be looking at price/performance (and the weight). I don't really care what shape it is. I actually think it looks alright.

Yes. I'm straight.

Well, for those of us who don't care too much about how a heatsink looks or don't have a side window (yet), the aesthetics of this heatsink don't matter much. For those with side windows and CCFLs (and big egos 😉), this heatsink probably won't be too popular.

But SPCR said this heatsink sells for $50 approximately. For that price you can have a Scythe Ninja and have money to spare...
