I get the feeling there's some kind of hidden meaning here I don't understand.

The legendary Butter Thread. Nums join date is long after it happened hence Perks cryptic commentary. Oldtimers should have understood the reference immediately.
 
Yeah I've never seen butter that yellow before. Mind you I've never seen non-American cheese that yellow before either.

the "bad" cheddar can be that yellow. Not that it's necessarily that bad, but not as good as some of the better cheddars that we make over here.

Kraft singles look that yellow. But that isn't cheese, so it doesn't really apply.
 
I think Buy.com gave out sticks of butter to appease the masses that lost out a great deal for 17" CRTs.
