I've used similar machines in my Chemistry classes. Those magnets are powerful. Walk within 10 feet of the thing and your watch and credit cards are distroyed (Funny thing was as my professor was telling us the rules, he forgot to remove his wallet. The next day during lecture, he said he tried using the cards at a restaurant - no luck they were erased.) My first time using it, I was in high school in a summer camp and they required us to keep keys on strings around our necks at all times. I forgot about that key when emptying my pockets. When I got near the thing, the key flew towards the machine, nearly pulled my shirt off, and gave me a string-burn on my neck. I can easily imagine the trouble getting a PC with all its metal off of it.
