I box for cardio. It's awesome, especially on legs day. Problem is that I box with a heavy bag, and managed to give myself a boxer's fracture. It's very mild and took me some time to even notice, but now it's a bit swollen and making a fist hurts. I really like to work out. Anyone have experience working out with broken bones? It seems like a bad idea, but....

My Dr. gives me the 4-6 weeks light duty mantra for most injuries. Broke a carpal in my right hand in a motorcycle accident years back, I couldn't hit the bag without a lot of pain, for months.

BTW, I was brought up/taught, to line up my big knuckle with my wrist, to form a straight line.
The pinky knuckle tends to lead the rest of the knuckles in a hard punch, and the knuckle compresses and snaps the neck of the metacarpal bone.
<----not where I come from, it doesn't.

You should probably see a doctor for it...it's not going to get better by stressing it out working out. Take a few weeks off, let it heal.

Well, depending on how the boxer's fracture will affect lifting, you may or may not be able to continue. Obviously, boxing is out of the question at this point, but you may be able to still do a lot of lifts, especially if your grip isn't shot and pain is minimal. If pain is significant, then do leg exercises and maybe use machines for a small bit for upper body (since you can do many of this with the handles and such resting in your palm, having nothing to do with your pinky finger). These are just suggestions, but either way you may wanna get it checked out. I've had a boxer's fracture and I didn't do anything about it and I was fine. Your's may be worse though and it's always a bad idea not to get an injury checked out. My excuse is I was younger and stupid :p
