with low end dvd writer price dropping like crazy, i guess cd writer is going to be phased out soon since dvd writer writes cd as well.

I still have a 16x10 lite-on burner, and want to replace it with something faster !

i totally agree that buslink rebates are the worst. 3 fone calls, 5 emails, and 2 faxes later (6-7months duration), i finally get my rebate for my previous buslink cdrw.

If anyone get either the 1300a or the lite-on please post any information from your box that could possibly indicate lite-on or 1300a.

I really would like a dvd burner, but like I said earlier, 16x is just to slow for me to burn cds...

The lite-on however would be fantastic!

Cheap DVD-R's: Newegg has a 50 spindle of Ritek 4x for $44.99. That's less than a buck a piece. Rated pretty highly on dvdrhelp.com.

Well, i got mine today and it ended up being a LiteOn LDW-411S. For some reason the door of the drive wouldn't open up properly so i went to staples and exchanged it. After opening up the new one, it turns out that its a Nec ND-1300A. Works fine so far.

As for the coupon, i dunno. Which one are you guys using? 9**34?

BTW, it comes with PowerDVD, Roxio basic, and a blank DVD+RW disk.

Nice I still can't use the coupon :-/ The site still tells me it expired Feb 16...so, I went to officemax and asked if they had any pacific digital drives (Its the one people in hot deals have been raving about lately). Anyway, according to some people of FW the code on my box indicates a liteon 851s 'should' be inside. I was kinda hoping for a NEC2500, but maybe I'll forget all about this drive's inability to burn a dvd-r @8x.

It does burn cds @40x though :-D. Time to open the box...wish me luck!
