I've been waiting almost a year since I bought my last BusLink DVD-ROM for the price to get cheap again. I bought my sister a BusLink 8x DVD-ROM at BB last summer (I think it was $15 AR), and finally it is my turn! Thanks for the heads up!

I saw the ad in the LA Times. Is the BusLink a good DVD-ROM?

Free Shipping from website is a definite plus!!! In the past Buslink has used Lite On dvd drives....they are rated very highly among users.......they would have Smart X technology, I believe this is so they can rip MP3 at high speeds without losing quality. Not sure if these are though...I am going to BB now to get that new Chili Peppers CD, will report what I find.

Went to the BM this morning and got one. It was a Liteon LTD-163 and the firmware is upgradeable.

Both rebate forms printed out. One to McAllen, TX and the other to BB at Calais, Maine. Not a bad deal AR's.

I have a Buslink 12x dvd drive (really a LiteOn LTD-122) and I won't be buying another liteon dvd drive. It has problems reading some types of cdr and is slow to recognise others. For a while LiteOn were releasing firmware upgrades for it every week with the note "improves performance, improves compatibility". They still haven't got it right.

BTW I have a LiteOn 24x CDRW drive and am very happy with it.

Just picked one up, along with the 50 pack of cd-r's, free after MIR. They had a shelf full of the dvd drives, $69.99 less $20 MIR, less $30 MIR. Also, they had so many of the cd-r spindles, they were stacking them on the registers!.:Q

The drive is available for $69.99 on website, but only the $20 rebate is posted. So far, it seems the extra $30 rebate is only B&M. Of course, that may change, as BB often times posts rebates on their website "during" a sale.

I was able to get one here in Cincinnati...I am confirming everything that Relative says in his post. It is a Lite On ltd-163, and comes with PowerDVD. This is either PowerDVD 2.0 or 2.5, my Artec I got at Staples came with PowerDVD 3.0 and was labeled differently. Also, the McAllen, TX rebate address is the same as Staples so I trust that it is dependable.

Toetagger...this is available online with FREE Shipping. The problem is that only the $20.00 rebate is on the website, maybe the second rebate is a manufacturer rebate and would be available from the Buslink website?

I paid $69.00 at Newegg for this exact drive a year ago!!!! :disgust:



Also...the Chili Peppers cd does not release until 7/9. I misread a preorder deal!!!

WOW! Yea, i picked one up today and it's actually a Lite-on... the same LTD-163 model they sometimes have on sale at Dell business for like $36-38. Picking one up for $20+tax is definitely a good deal. Too bad I had bought one for $38 from dell just last month

I picked up the last one on the shelf at the local Best Buy today. It is a Lite-On LTD163D- is region hackable too.

Both rebates printed out... However, both state that they require a UPC off the box- only one is on the box. Will Best Buy accept a photocopy??

BTW- It included PowerDVD 4.0.

states that a COPY of the original UPC barcode on box is required. Where as the other rebate requires the original UPC.

The stupid lazy a$$ BB in Manhattan was out of stock on these and besides that, they had the price wrong on the tag AND they didn't have any of the July 4-5-6 sales ads. I hate that place already. Also, they didn't have any of those DDR RAM sticks left that were $5 after rebate.
