anyone has an opinion this one? Good or bad or junk? Looking for one for my kid. He wants to look the night sky? If there is better deal or get other, please advise. thanks
looks like a good one. 🙂
Im sure its good enough for an amatuer for your backyard or window.
Tons of light pollution around anyway so its not like youll get perfect results.
It's a bit weak with a 3" mirror but should be ok for looking at the moon & brighter planets. Look for a scope that's at least 114mm (4.5") to get into astronomy deeper, it'll cost more but well worth it.
And this scope is not good for terrestrial viewing since it's likely to have the image upside down.
There's a $10 coupon floating around for SportsAuthority and eBates at 5%. Free shipping is probably another $10-$15 savings over the other retailers. Mine came out to be $66.48 shipped after everything....
It'd be a good scope for backdoor adventures and to get kids interested in the stuff. Personally, I want the Hubble on a Tripod..Meade version or, if its a bit outta your price range, the Celestron version
Either one would get ya up close and personal with those green men from the moon! 🙂
Why is this posted twice? There's a thread about this deal here.
According to one person on that thread, it is a junk scope. My Astronomy instructor suggests that if you plan on making any kind of purchase of optical equipment you're better off with a set of good power binoculars. It'll save a lot of hassle then buying these cheaper scopes and probably not even as expensive as them.
