Bush Wins!!

Robor,

Not anymore. CNN has just put Florida back in the "too close to call" column. Bush is widening his lead there with each new vote total. It's going to be a long night.

Bush wins by 7% nationwide.😀

A bit off-color, but what the heck:

The two major party presidential candidates today agreed that
Americans are seeing too much inappropriate material in popular
entertainment. However, they disagreed on the details.

The Republican candidate, George W. Bush, stated that there is
too much bloody violence in the movies and on television.

Vice President Al Gore, his Democratic opponent, stated meanwhile
that the media present Americans with too much sex and frontal nudity.

In other words, Bush says there is too much gore and Gore says there
is too much bush.

😉

my question is what does it matter?, they are all crooks, and allways have been!! They, government parties, will never change. Let's see who has the most money that can bribe me to do what they want!!

Let's let a person with money that is supporting their own campaign, run for a bit, may work may not! But we will never know till we try!!! Why not a woman? Or an African American run this messed up country for a bit? A whole 4 years, wow, bet they could really mess the country up!! NOT!!!!!!!!!!

BTW I like that too ray

I think that The networks are afraid to say it, but what is intresting, is that with a close election, we may see the end of the Electoral College, which will be effectively the end of the modern Two Party System.

The scenario goes as such. Bush or Gore wins the popular vote, but looses the electoral vote. This will make the people feel that there vote doesn't matter any more, and creates a push to get rid of the electoral college. With out the electoral college, there is no longer a need for a 50% majority, and hence the doors would be opened to more than two parties. Now, I will admit, it is An American Standard to have partisian leanings, and it will probably be many years before we will rid our selves of it, with out the need for such a system, and will eventually fade away.

So, who ever wins, I hope its close. If I could vote, I would vote Browne, simply because I refuse to choose the "lesser of two evils" as I refuse to vote for the overly liberal Nader. But I can't, so I sit here and watch the votes total up, hoping for reform in the electoral system by the time I begin my political career.

Interesting, at 12:25 Eastern Time, the Electoral vote is now at 246 votes for Bush and 242 for Gore. There are currently still 54 votes (including the 25 votes from Florida) which have not been decided, and Bush would win with 24 of those votes, and Gore would win with 28 of those votes. Whoever wins Florida should win, and Bush currently holds a 7% lead in that state... Been a LONG time since we had a race this close! 🙂

(Edited for typos)

At almost 2am here(EST), the vote in Florida may actually come down to a tally of the military and over-seas votes! It's just that close..incredible!!

Regardless of which presidential candidate wins(I voted for Bush), it's hardly conclusive, and the winner is going to HAVE to work with both parties to accomplish anything meaningful.

I hope Bush wins!

In my state, Republican candidates never win. So Bush better have more than 4 electoral votes more than Gore before counting is finished here in Hawaii.

What will happen if it's a tie? Is that possible?

Gore could easily put a successful end to SETI. 😉

Then again, so could Bush! 😛

If the electoral college vote were to result in a tie, then the vote goes to the House of Representatives, with each state getting 1 vote.

You guys should check the long thread in OT. The margin went down to <500 votes and now Gore is ahead again in Florida. 🙂

Gore is not ahead in Florida, it is still undecided. They are still counting, and with a margin that close a recount is very likely.

Crap! I must have misread someone's post. 😱 My cable is down and I can only get my election info online. I knew I should have checked it when I moved in 10 days ago. No I find that the wire is stripped, no jack left on its end. Is suck! :|
