Here's the breakdown
http://www.ctj.org/pdf/bushtaxcutsvshealthcare.pdf

What this means is that anyone who opposes the healthcare bill because of cost, but supported the Bush tax cuts despite cost, is a hypocrite.

Supporting tax cuts while opposing the health bill does not make you a hypocrite.

And the Bush tax cuts put a lot of money back into everybody's pockets, which is a very good thing. Healthcare bill just took from their pockets.

That so called "cost" is because it's OUR MONEY to start with. Letting me keep more of MY MONEY is always a good thing.

The commentary was:

Isn't national debt a cost to America as a whole, and therefore every American? What did we get for the Bush tax cuts? I think I got $300

Letting you and me keep more of our money when times are good isn't as good as PAYING OFF THE DEBT. With your logic, the national debt will constantly rise, whether the economy is doing well or badly.

OP, do you really think a take over of 1/6th of the American economy is going to be so cheap?

The healthcare bill is payed for with 10 years of taxes and only gives you 6 years of service. That is why it is going to "save" us money.

Healthcare being 1/6th of the economy is already twice expensive as other countries where this "takeover" has taken place.

And this takeover will do nothing to bring costs down, and we'll have the government making decisions for us. Where's the upside?

Well, if we could save just 10% of 1/6 of the American economy it would be worth it. I think we could save more then that personally.

lol i would love to see the faux model that drives this stupidity.

I suspect AMT relief is a higher % of numbers than Bush's tax cuts. AMT by the middle of next decade should hit about 30% of households. That means instead of the AMT rate(26%?), with relief they will be paying less.

This is with AMT relief and I suspect those numbers are bogus for 2009 and beyond anyways due to a severe recession.

A tax cut is a cost??? Boy, you don't have much for brains do you? Taxes come from money I make. The fact a tax cut may provide less revenue to the government does not mean the tax cut results in an additional cost.

Its also the largest driver of investment of all our industries. That's why it costs so much.
You want a sure way to remove any potential for leaving this depression, you'll legislate the prices pharmaceuticals are allowed to charge for medication, thereby removing all future investment and development of new cures.

The only reason the Bush tax cuts cost money is because he didn't cut any spending to accompany them. Instead, he increased spending and borrowed more, so now we have the original cost, plus interest.

This is true. The amusing thing is that not having money taken from us is a loss. In this context, please give me more losses.

I think he is looking at it from the standpoint of we didn't cut spending to match the cuts so we had to borrow money to support the spending. Kinda like cutting my hours at work but still living in the same house and driving the same car paid for on credit cards. Doesn't make alot of sense does it?

Well a lot of dumb shit happened with Bush, and if he cut taxes spending should have gone down. At the very least we shouldn't have had two wars for "free".

But you want to raise the debt another trillion bucks. But wait, this is just another attempt by a leftist to blame Bush.
Seriously, leftists sound more and more like kindergarteners everyday. But Bush did it. Wah wah wah.
