Sounds bad - but it isn't. You can't blame the whole Bin Laden family - whom have established a legitimate business - you have to blame those responsible.

You know, the bin-laden group is HUGE in Saudi Arabia. They're essentially the Saudi version of General Electric, with operations covering almost every industry. Osama has NO ties to them -- in fact, he would have been easily a multibillionaire if he stayed with the company instead of being an idiot.

osama's father is known to have nurtured in his brood a stict belief in wahhabism, an islamic sect, that among other things
holds western society in contempt as a pestilent moral wasteland. this appears to be another sorry case of a 'business
only' concern in complete disregard of an important human dimension. the supposed fact osama's father has
disowned his evil doer son is a pathetic attempt to evade his culpability.

The Carlyle Group is huge! They are global investment bankers and while I too believe at this point cutting/suspending ties would be a good move, are we going to barrage every company whom deals with the equally huge Bin Laden Firm from Saudi Arabia.......or everyone whom deals with Saudi Arabia.......or everyone whom deals with Arabs??????

What makes this so newsworthly? The bin Laden business is huge. I doubt there are any international companies that don't have business of some sort with them.

I think Bush Sr. should pull out considering the state of US mentality right now. But, I don't think there is anything fundamentally wrong with his dealings with the bin Laden family.

I don't have much respect for the Bin Laden family. Sure they may not have any ties with Osama, but they still are a powerful force in their country and have helped to keep the oppressive ways in their culture.

I don't think Saudi Arabia is really what Americans would consider a true friend. More of a business ally. Some people in this country might do business with loan sharks, but it doesn't mean they would like them on a personal level. I think we have that type of relationship with them.

Anyone see the CNN clip on life in Saudi Arabia last night? They are 2nd to the Taliban as far as repression of women. One woman was on TV saying she would like to be able to drive but it's not allowed in her culture. They also have to be covered up in public, not as bad in Afghanistan, but they have to have their heads covered at all times.

As far as the Bush family, it's no surprise. They even helped finance the Nazis. Money makes the world go round.
