Because the "major" networks don't give a damn about real news or anything other than ratings. Think about it this way, ABC decides to show the speech but NBC & CBS don't. Well Average Joe Dumbass sees this and since he doesn't car about anything other than watching sitcoms, NASCAR, and eating his Hungry Man TV dinner he gets pissed and changes it to NBC, CBS, or Fox thus ABC lost a viewer. Magnify this by all the Joe Dumbasses in this country and ABC loses ratings points thus it can't charge as much for it's commercial time.

From what my stannous fluoride infected brain remembers, this is a rare occurrence. At least 1 of the big 3 always carries one of these so called speeches.

No crap. I can't respect anybody who can't pronounce this word correctly.

How about you listen to the spoken pronunciation from the Merriam-Webster dictionary here: http://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/audio.pl?nuclea02.wav=nuclear and stop being an AS$.

>>usage Though disapproved of by many, pronunciations ending in \-ky&-l&r\ have been found in widespread use among educated speakers including scientists, lawyers, professors, congressmen, U.S. cabinet members, and at least one U.S. president and one vice president. While most common in the U.S., these pronunciations have also been heard from British and Canadian speakers. <<
Maybe this is the right-wing conspiracy dictionary?

I watched the whole speech and it was a good one. it was to the point and you now know and the Iraqi's should also know just what is going to happen if they do not get that A hole Saddam ousted. We are closest to going to a war of OUR making then anytime in history beyond what, the civil war?

This is not a good thing and I wish that it could be avoided, but if it does occur and we go to war, I will support Bush to the end. I am ex military, and there is nothing, NOTHING worse than being in uniform and not having the full backing of your countrymen. The men and women in uniform who defend our freedom and way of life, who are put in harms way as a matter of course, will have my undieing support and be in my prayers daily until this crisis is ended and peace is at hand once again.

Every effort should now be given by our leaders to obtain coalition support, because to me the UN is a worthless and defunct, inept organization incapable of holding peace or waging war. It is useless.

Australia, Canada, England,Ireland,Scotland, Italy, Germany, France, Japan, China, Korea, Philippenes, Inonesia,etc------Listen up. You want US support in the future, you support this regime change now, or kiss US support goodby. (Thats what I hope our leaders say)

Was it only 15,000? Anyway, wasn't the US better off for fighting Vietnam?

I particularly liked how GW put the Iraqi Generals on notice.

Should soldiers be fighting without civilian support? I didn't see the speech so I can't comment on it, but I'd love to know how the hell Iraqis are going to oust their leader. Why would you be opposed to war yet support Bush? That sounds pretty hypocritical. Blind following if I've ever seen it.
Like I said, I don't know what Bush said, but if it was as you put it, I'm definately against war instead of undecided like I was before.

I think that Kennedy only sent ~15,000.

>> Anyway, wasn't the US better off for fighting Vietnam? <<
I believe so, just as I feel the US would be better off with Saddam deposed.

It was interesting listening to George W. tonight, but I couldn't help thinking that he sounded like he was reciting a book report to the rest of the class...probably just me though...

good lord, mr.:frown: Do you think I want war? Do you think for a moment Bush WANTS WAR? Nobody who can rub two brain cells together should prefer war to peace. But if you have no alternative, and you are at risk of serious harm and potential death if you sit back and do nothing, then for crying out loud, support the men and women who are going to fight to preserve your safety and way of life.

My reference to full support for our troops is a reference to fvcking hippies in the 60's spitting on servicemen who came back from the war in Viet Nam.

You don't know me well enough to call me a hypocrite. Nothing in my post should even remotely have given you such a thought. If you are some pacifist,so be it. But don't you dare call me a hypocrite. I have never been on your side of the argument, NEVER!:disgust:

Well that rubbing two brain cells together is where I see a potential problem.

We are screwed no matter what.

If we dont attack Iraq, someone WILL walk into this country and set off a bug-bomb or a nuke.
If we do attack Iraq, someone WILL walk into this country and set off a bug-bomb or nuke.

Personally, I think we should just except the fact that were all gonna die. Im serious, not joking one bit. The human race has always been destined to destroy itself via one means or the other. Live while you live, then die and be done with it.

ugh

bush speaks like he's talking to little kids all the time

he's so engrossed in pronouncing his words right and maintaining eye contact that he loses any chance of being a good speaker

god, i'd *MUCH* rather have the tv post a transcript of his speech..at least i could sit there and read it, as opposed to want to change the channel after trying to listen to bush for 2 seconds

Or better yet, you could skip watching it on TV and look for the transcript on-line? What a concept...

Bush makes me cringe, but I see that as a personal weakness. He is only one American not representative of all of us. And best of all, he didn't actually win the election.

Tripleshot, what does not supporting a war effort have to do with spitting on troops. Naturally I could see Kent State people doing that but being against war has nothing to do with being against your soldiers. The opposite seems more logical. Stop the war so our boys don't die. And how do you propose to stop an unjust war, assuming there was or will be one if people don't stop it themselves. I don't get the get behind the president, check your brain at the door, attitude. Support a just war, oppose an unjust one is how it looks to me. Am I missing something? I know our soldiers were spit on. Lots of people are crazy encluding people against war. But if you want to be sane, don't you have to look at each case individually for yourself and not just trust the president.

Another good reason to dump the whole state (besides dumping their lame former governor on us). The only Texan whose intellect I can remember respecting is Molly Ivins.

Sure dump Texas. It's only roughly 20% of our population and the 12th largest economy in the world. Nope, we don't need em.

Personally I'm much more comfortable with a Texan in the White House than I would be with a Yankee or someone from the left coast.
