it's actually just a loan that DC will get back with plenty of interest it the next 10 years as a generation 1/3 the size of baby boomers attempts to provide the same tax base baby boomers did, meanwhile support them on social security.

yo-ma-ma, that would mean your refund will be delayed. They will send out the refunds in the order of the last two digits from your SS#.

snakesnfrogs, that ain't my Stang. I don't deserve a ride like that. I just drive em till the wheels are square. Haven't washed my current car in years! I was just guessing what 351Cleveland's might look like. Not sure what the difference is between a "Sportsroof" or Mach I style.

Honestly, I'll probably apply my refund to remodeling the house. That should help stimulate the economy some. I'm afraid I've never been much help to Detroit. Never purchased a new car in my life! Guess I'll have to leave that for you big spenders ;)

Pikachu-

Mach 1's are Sportsroofs. The only difference between the Mach 1 and normal Sportsroof are the spoilers, rear window louvres, shaker hood, etc. Basically a body styling package.

Oh, and yes, new rear tires would be nice... I am guessing I shouldnt be seeing those metal threads ;)

Back in college a guy on my floor in the dorms had a '70 Mach 1 with a 351C and a C6. I think it had a special single plane intake and a big Holley carb. The motor also had the 4 bbl heads, not the 2bbl ones.
I got to ride in it once, and it was real nice. :)
I loved watching that hood scoop move around. That motor had some real power and sounded great.

Cleveland... I think you could only get the larger engines in the Mach1's. I don't think a 429CJ was available in a "Mustang", or a 3514V for that matter. Also, wasn't there a bit of suspension work done to the mach 1's? I know they came stock with wider tires, better tires, stiffer springs.... That sort of thing. I think the intake manifolds for the most part are different. There's not much room under those hoods for the ducting required for the intake systems (The reason for the shaker hoods:)). I think the Mach 1's were always faster in the quarter mile as well. I know they were WAY faster on road courses (Where the mustang was made for, screw going straight for a 1/4 mile :)) Correct me if I'm wrong.

Bush won't send your mom a check, the Democrats will.

Bush didnt want you to have a rebate.

And I quote:

The president and his Republican allies will receive lots of political credit for those checks, but as his Treasury Secretary, Paul O'Neill, conceded Sunday when I interviewed him, that tax rebate scheme was originally promoted by Democrats. They argued that the tax rebates would provide an immediate stimulus to the U.S. economy. The White House was sharply opposed, preferring that the funding be used for permanent tax cuts, not simply a one-shot, tax-rebate deal. But in the end, in order to win the support of several moderate Democrats, the White House went along with the tax rebate program.

So, when you get your checks, just remember who it came from.

Kosugi, without the Republicans there would be no tax cuts, one time or permanent. I'll thank the right people.

<< That's funny, I never see you two "guardians of all that is cerebral" pipe up when RedDawn, I'm Typing, Ferocious or Shuxclams refer to Republiklans etc. over and over. Or is it just a given that they need to "grow up" too? >>

When they say it, it's just as ridiculous. As for Shuxclams, he's a wasted piece of putrid sh!t.

But the real question, Pikachu, is how your family got this tax rebate already when it was signed into law TODAY. You don't suppose MAYBE you got some facts wrong somewhere? ;)

That's true, the rebate scheme is part of the $0.6T dems tax cut proposal. But Bush wanted $1.6T. The final tax cut is $1.3T.

Not a bad deal!

According to the rebate schedule in the link above, my rebate is in the first batch to be mailed out. $300, that's enough to replace my duron with a stallion thunderbird and a gig of memory by july!

"You don't suppose MAYBE you got some facts wrong somewhere?"

I am supposing something is wrong somewhere, because I heard they were going to be scrambling to get these out by September. My mom swore it was "the" rebate check. And she for damn sure cashed a check from the IRS for $533. It wasn't a tax overpayment refund, because she didn't have a refund coming. She also said there were quite a few people cashing these things. I just got back from vacation, so I'll try and track down more of the specifics ASAP. If anybody else has received one of these, I'd like to know.

BTW, trying to have the Dems take any credit for this makes me want to puke. Son of a mofo bitch! :| That is beyond irritating! They dragged their feet and squawked and moaned that it was too much, yada yada... God knows it ain't your money to start with, right? Puhleeeeeeeze!

Pikachu,

Sounds like your Mom got an "accidental" check from the IRS. Since she already spent it, she better hire a lawyer.

Linux23,

It's automatic.

Gawd! My mom's check was a refund due to overpayment. She's recovering from a mild stroke, so I "helped" her with the taxes. Think I'll drop this in an accountant's lap next year!

The rebate is only a first step especially since the tax cut is retroactive to the begining of this year.
If anyone is wondering how much they get back they can go to this link........ www.heritage.org/taxcalculator
Nice little item to tell you how much you get back and when. :)
