Because nobody's life, liberty or property is safe while Congress is in session 🙂

Their "Ain't This America" section also has some funny (or sad) tidbits....

I truly believe there is definitely something wrong with Bush. This would explain a lot.

It sure does. I was just thinking that earlier - what a coincidence that thsi stroy came out today.

Somebody here mentioned how he used to be a good public speaker, and this obviously is no longer the case. I was thinking how this fits with drug side-effects.

I dislike the Shrub and his fundie pandering neocon agenda with a passion, but this "news article" reads like the kind of thing Riprorin would link to (or quote from without linking to). All that's missing is that it's not a five year old article.

The article reads like a smear job. It takes one largely innocuous fact (and even that is unproven), that Bush has been prescribed anti-depressants, states that in a needlessly inflammatory manner -- President George W. Bush is taking powerful anti-depressant drugs -- and runs with that, weaving it into a huge web of negative conjecture based on anonymous sources.

If Bush really does need some prozac, I'm glad he's getting it.

I agree with the above. Regardless of politics, if he really is using such drugs, I hope he gets well soon.

Didn't Nixon use Methamphetmine(sp) during the last year of his Presidency (or was that just BS Ollie Stone put in his movie)

Anthony Hopkins rules! I honestly don't remember that being in the movie, Mike.

I do remember Nixon downing lots of Scotch, and a drunk Nixon forcing Kissenger (a Jew!) to get down on his knees in Christian prayer with him. Imagine Henry's dilemma! "Ok, Dick, I'll do it, so long as you promise not to open up the nuclear code briefcase or pick up the red phone and start making threats. Deal?"

The doctors also worry about the wisdom of giving powerful anti-depressant drugs to a person with a history of chemical dependency. Bush is an admitted alcoholic, although he never sought treatment in a formal program, and stories about his cocaine use as a younger man haunted his campaigns for Texas governor and his first campaign for President.

?President Bush is an untreated alcoholic with paranoid and megalomaniac tendencies,? Dr. Frank adds.

OH that settles well with the guy next to the button! He addmitted he is a alcoholic, supposedly on anti-depression drugs and he is in highest charge of the united states. WOW I feel really safe now.
If you think about it they are setting up for an excuse as for why we went to war with Iraq.
They found no WMD's so when the poo hits the fan he can just say "opps I was drunk, high as a kite and it was a joke taken to far" takes a sip of Olympia beer "My bad, but we had every right to go into Iraq, they, um, they, they, they, the American people, war on terror, I made more terror in the american people by always talking about the war on terror, um, terror alert on high, I will take more of the american freedoms because of terrorist, pass the new law so I can fund my new war on terror cabinet that will do nothing like the war on drugs," sip, sip, pop, pop, "we had every right and if you dont like it kiss my shiny metal butt" then he falls down.
We then get to say were sorry to the entire world for our messed up government.

Proud to be an American, just not proud the way our county is being run in the face of the world.

Back to the top because where else can you be drunk in the usa and still have a job🙂 But I guess when your rich, powerful, and the pres its ok to tip a few back and lie to the american public. What a great out you will have.

There's a fair amount of FUD here, IMO. In actuality, Buproprion-for instance- is a "powerful anti-depressant" and is used in addiction cessation programs.
Treating the root (chemical imbalances) problem with any of the SSRIs (including Prozac) and other classes of drugs can make it so an individual is LESS likely to abuse drugs and/or alcohol. A two-pronged approach of drug/talk therapy is even better.
That said, I don't think there is much hope for GWB. 😀

Dude, I spent the most economically productive years of my life drunk. Heck, I worked so hard just to be able to afford my drinking. It's not that hard to be a funtional alchoholic. It's even fun.
