"WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Bush (news - web sites)'s nominee to be secretary of the Navy, oil executive Colin McMillan, died on Thursday, administration officials said. "

Navy Chief Nominee May Have Killed Self

Oilman Colin McMillan, who was awaiting Senate confirmation as Navy secretary, died at his ranch from an apparent gunshot wound, and investigators said Friday it might have been self-inflicted.

"All indications are it could be suicide, but we're not going to reach that conclusion until the investigation is over," said District Attorney Scot Key of Alamogordo.

I had not paid any attention to his nominee before now, but I did find it interesting that Bush had nominated an oil exectutive for the position. Also interesting that Cheney's former company Halliburton receives an enormous dollar value for work in IRAQ, and they were simply awarded this contract without any other companies in the mix at all. I guess since Halliburton had done so much business with Saddam in the past that they should get this deal.

What next...are you going to go to his funeral wearing a signboard that says "bush is stupid"? Are you totally devoid of respect for dead people, unless it serves your agenda?

In another thread, Moonie sez:

The essence of liberal and conservative have to do with the tolerance level people have for feeling how bad they feel. The greater the level of denial the less intuitive feel, the greater the rigidity, the need for certainty, the fear of fear and on and on and on. A liberal is a person who has suffered emotionally so deeply he can feel what others feel. The ability to face and deal with pain makes for a sympathetic soul. A liberal is he who strives to lessen pain. The Cowboy, the emotionally cut of type, is an opposite syndrome and a typically conservative thing. He sees black and white and himself as white because he cannot feel pain. He is in a state of denial and rejection of his inner self. It's what makes conservatives less human and lame. They lack inner dimension.

Strange that Moonie's sermon is forgotton so quickly:

Evidently his superior essence of tolerance mysteriously runs thin on occasion. Someone dies and he can't resist cracking wise and using this unfortunate circumstance to insult someone else. I guess he isn't "several light years" ahead of any of us after all...........

Hey at least they are american companies right....Too bad from what I heard they hire mostly Egyptians and other Saharan Africans to do the work cuz thier cheaper and don't complain. Maybe these few oil executives will spend thier monies from the tax payer at home though..

No I think he had recently found out it was back 🙁

I was trying to lift people's spirits in case anyone became depressed, especially the moralistic prigs who sought, like me, but without self awareness, to use someone?s death to get in a dig. Corn, you and alchemize should be ashamed of yourselves. How crass.

I believe there's a Hitchcock movie where wife A kills wife B's husband and vice versa. In the midst of the intelligence problems, this guy dying and the British Intelligence guy dying in the same week might be a little fishy...both are suicides?

Interesting but not surprising at all.

It is odd, but I think just a coincidence. Now if they both were "whistle blowers", then something would definitely seem awry.
