I just put two and two together today in my humanites class.
1)The timing of the release of the Bin Ladin Tapes
2)Bush pulling out of the ABM treaty

god, I think that when Bush does something as drastic as that, he shouldn't hide behind headlines that he creates to throw America's attention away from what he is doing
 
I thought it was pretty much agreed that the ABM treaty was way outdated and it was the right thing to do with our country's safety in mind. I think you are gettin' more worked up about it than Russia is.

Well I knew about the treaty because it was on CNN anyway...

For the average joe if they didn't catch that news they're too ignorant to have cared anyway!
 
Umm, by the way the release of the tapes came earlier than expected because someone leaked them to the Washington Post and in order to avoid an intelligence security embarassment, they just decided to release the tapes before the Post was threatening to do so. This ABM thing had been decided a few weeks ago, back when Bush met with Putin. The deal is that whatever missile defense system we have, Russia can use it too.
 
Wait, I thought Bush was a complete and utter moron, not fit for a President. He couldn't possibly have thought up a plot like that.

Either he's not sleazy, or he's not an idiot. Take your pick.
 
i'm not going to say what i think about bush because i don't know enough to make a judgement, but i will say this. if we're able to see through his motives and see that he's sleazy, he's an idiot, as far as politicians go. a good one would be able to be sleazy without us knowing it.
 
Umm.. hello? do you read or get out much? It has been known for about 2 weeks we would be pulling out of that. Sheesh
 
The russian response hasn't been bad - so I guess it was a good move. This topic was talked about last night on Fox! 🙂

Seems as though you didn't learn much. The ABM treaty with Russa got rid of most of the nukes that assured mutuial destruction of our countries along with the rest of the planet if we wanted. What Bush is proposing is for DEFENCE and not OFFENCE. The next time something like a plane gets turned into a missle wouldn't it be nice to have the ability to say SHOOT IT DOWN! Or maybe he is so smart like Regan that the illusion of "Star Wars" working would be enough.

One day mabey you will wake up and smell the coffee and thank Bush for it.

yup, he was a pretty big idiot as far as personal relationships go. no way should he have done anything with that attention whore.

Or maybe you will wake up someday soon with Anthrax, and thank him for wasting billions on a shield against the long-ranged missiles the terrorists don't have and voting against the Democrat suggestion of spending more cash on fighting terrorism which might have stopped the Anthrax crap.
 
What ABM treaty??? Didn't the country that signed that treaty with us collapse under it's own oppresive weight?
