George P. Bush Makes Campaign Filing In Texas

DALLAS -- George P. Bush, a nephew of former President George W. Bush and son of one-time Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, has made a campaign filing in Texas that is required of candidates planning to run for state office, an official said Thursday night.

The younger Bush, a Fort Worth resident, filed a campaign treasurer appointment Wednesday, a requirement for someone to become a candidate under campaign finance law, Tim Sorrells, general counsel for the Texas Ethics Commission, told The Associated Press.

Sorrells said the report does not specify what office Bush might seek, if any, and he had no other details on the filing, which wasn't available online. Bush did not immediately reply to an email seeking comment, and no phone listing for him could be found.

The 36-year-old said in September his goal was to run for office and acknowledged that he had his eyes on several statewide offices.

Bush is back, baby.

Ana Navarro, who was the national Hispanic co-chairwoman for John McCain when he ran for president in 2008, tweeted her enthusiasm Thursday.

"Wrote check for my friend, (at)georgepbush newly formed exploratory committee for office in TX. Young, pragmatic, Hispanic, just what GOP needs," Navarro's tweet read.

How can this be, I thought Hispanics hated the GOP?

They do. By a 77 percent majority.
Hey, I wonder if he will have to show his papers when he visits Arizona?

Oh, and btw, since I know Republicans no nothing about Hispanics in America did you know that overwhelmingly polls say hispanics won't vote for the current hispanic office holders like Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz. Both those guys support the Arizona "show your papers" law.

I think there is a huge misconception that just nominating a hispanic will make al the Republican problems go away. Actual polling shows that hispanics are hugely interested and aware of the hispanic office holders positions and that hispanic voters are MORE likely NOT to vote for an hispanic who supports the current Republican policies.

The Bushs-all of them-have tended to be very supportive of Hispanics' rights and very friendly to them. W even tried to do immigration reform and was quickly shot down by the rest of his party.

There, I said something nice about GWB.

I always thought this was kind of interesting, since by and large they are pro-life, and not too happy about homosexuals, which seem to be two of the big dem special interest.

Well, a racist political party that wants to make legal hispanic immigrants second class citizens has a way of doing that.

Reality doesn't support your hyperbole. I live in a very large Hispanic population and never heard anything of the sort, nor did anyone care. This was BS fear mongering made up by the lunatic left.

I bet Texas will elect him governor, then he will be elected president and we will be fighting another war in the middle east. History tends to repeat itself.

I don't think he would want to be governor. Senator maybe.
Governors are facing difficult times economically. It's too easy to get your name tarnised.
