Bush cuts federal workers' pay raise

WASHINGTON (AP) - Federal workers will get a smaller pay raise next month because President Bush (news - web sites) is freezing part of the increase, citing a national emergency because of the fight against terrorism.

"I do not believe this decision will materially affect our ability to continue to attract and retain a quality federal work force," he said.

Sounds like a good idea to me. My pay was frozzen for two years because of the downturn and I'm sure many others have been affected too.

No, people who take a job know the pay and benefits before hand. If the pay is not what they want, WTF did they take the job in the first place? If they aren't getting raises, and object to that, WTF are they staying there?

then whats wrong if the government wants to improve their pay and benefits so they can hire more qualified people, people who not like notfred want more money 😛 (not saying notfred is not qualified, more like that he is way overqualified for the job he is doing)

Many Federal Workers do a fantastic job and are very conscientious about their work, but just as many do practically nothing with no recourse at all for management to cut the dead beats out. Most jobs are there because of pork and political payback and have little to do with the needs of the country.

Because of the Union attitude, even the good worker will suffer right along with the dead beat worker.

Getting a smaller raise isn't exactly the same as getting no raise at all or getting a pay cut. There is no such thing as a 'pay raise cut', becuase you cannot lose what you never had to begin with.
