I also love the comment from the smug b1tch at the end. Dems owe their freedom the the 'pugs my azz. Let's not forget what a bunch of fellows in blue coats took upon themselves the last time this land was ruled by a King named George. And let's also not forget what they did with those loyal to the redcoats!

Yeah, because the Democrat and Republican parties were around at that time . If you want to look at a war in which the Republicans and Democrats were (largely) fighting on opposing sides, the Democrats were wearing gray and the Republicans were wearing Union blue.

Actually, if you take an look at the actual parties that existed during the Civil War, they were not the same two parties that exist today.

The most telling aspect of GWB's remarks is that he obviously intends to make such tax dodging by the wealthy easier and more rewarding-

As if it's their due, their birthright to get over on the rest of us...

So let me get this straight, Bush is essentially saying this of the ultra rich:

"They will dodge taxes and there's nothing we can do about it so as a concesssion I'm going to lower their taxes that they won't pay anyways instead of putting more money into the hands of those that actually do pay taxes"

Awesome.

It is largely true. The rich have been know to hire accountants and tax lawyers to lower their bills.

Of course it's true. Doesn't reflect well on the POTUS to be out there tacitly endorsing it though.

"the really rich people figure out how to dodge taxes anyway."

Statement of fact

"the really rich people should figure out how to dodge taxes anyway."

Endorsement

Wow, spin city again.

You're wrong, the first is just an opinion --- it is NOT a fact, it is also a tacit endorsement of dodging taxes since he didnt rebuke the practice. He's saying that taxing rich people is "a failed strategy"!! It's like as if he said trying to catch criminals (which tax evaders are) before they commit a crime is not worth it, because most of them get away with it anyway. True, it's not a outright endorsement (I certainly wouldn't expect one from a public official), but what he said is probably one of the worst things I've heard come out of a politician's mouth.

Good goin' George. Middle America is gonna love that! I hope it's on video tape somewhere.

That's the whole point, the goal of the Neocons is elimination of Middle America, only the uber Rich and Lowly peasants to serve them.

I really hope its true come the RNC. A national flat tax would put us all on level ground.

i also agree a flat tax is better, because this way the rich CANNOT go through loopholes since they HAVE to pay what they owe...
but the thing that worries me is the effect that would have on charities since I know many people who donate just so they can be in a lower tax bracket
