Bush claims: "We will rid the world of the evil-doers"

Your thoughts on this statement....

I'm already in the midst of debating this on another forums, so perhaps I can see how others feel here as well. Bush is launching us into a worldwide policing of all terrorists everywhere. Lead by the US, is this too large of a task that our President is creating for us?

As it is, yes our allies feel we're doing the righteous thing, yet they shy from the battle. Rather than gearing for battle, I see them as watching our moves. In essence we're dragging the UN along into this whole bigger cause. I'm not just talking about Bin Ladin, I'm talking about erradicating terrorism THROUGHOUT the world.

More insight is needed....

csiro-

It is likely that the speech was not scripted. It was a question and answer session. That was an answer to a question.

<< Sounds noble, but pretty impossible to do.

Sounds like something from an old Batman show or something...
>>

Note Bush did not say "all evil doers." So ridding the world of evil doers is hardly impossible.

What do I think? I think THIS is exactly what Osama Bin Laden was banking on.......NOT what so many others have stated that he was trying to lure us into a fight on his home turf...............😉 I believe he figured sustained support for military involvement would quickly dwindle due to the Afghanny situation!

<< Note Bush did not say "all evil doers." So ridding the world of evil doers is hardly impossible. >>

Yes, but it still is nearly impossible to get rid of all the "evil doers" he is talking about.

I'm not saying I wish he could, but seriously, it's a hard task. Could he get rid of the key "doers"? Possibly.

Probably, which is why he assassinated the leader of the Northern Alliance just 2 days before. I guess bin Laden probably anticipated a US attack on Afghanistan. I wonder if he has anything else up his sleeve.

Depends on who's defintion of evil we're going by. In many people's eyes America is far more evil than any terrorist group

Look, if he rids the world of more than one evildoer, he's fulfilled his promise.

Still I think he needs better speechwriters...

I agree. This is propaganda to must support for a massive military action, to rally us and those who might ally with us in it. I think its bogus and is why alot of people are a bit edgy because their not sure what he means by this.

<< Bush is the worst public speaker. He is horrible. >>

You must not have seen him in New York, he was awsome. I admit he's not the best public speaker and thats not why I voted for him. I wanted someone who could get the job done, especially in this situation.

"Evil-Doers" <<<<< Another fine example of a Bushism.

You know, he means well, but how he comes up with this stuff I'll never know. It's such a contrast to listen to someone as well spoken as say, Colin Powell or even the First Lady, then to hear George say a Bushism, it just jumps right out at you.

But just keep in mind that so far, all the right decisions have been made and that's what's important.

I think you guys are reading too much into what he said. The country needs/needed to be reassured and that's what he was trying to do. I think it was symbolic, not literal.

Lethal

He does need some better speech writers like csiro mentioned. I think his speeches are just too broad and hilarious...I dont' know about you guys...but whenever I watch him speak on TV...he just crackes me up! His facial expressions just about does it right there! Plus his broad generalizations! HAHA

Anyways...I dont' think that task is very possible since "evil-doers" are all over the place and even if we get rid of all the terrorists...more are bound to pop up! It is a never ending fight against them...

<< .I dont' know about you guys...but whenever I watch him speak on TV...he just crackes me up! >>

Same here.

<< "We will rid the world of the evil-doers" >>

Bush!t.
